Almost all of my students are economically disadvantaged, and live within walking distance of our preschool through 5th grade elementary school. Their families struggle to provide the necessities, and are grateful for any assistance the school can provide. Many are below grade level academically, but they love coming to the library. Quite a few of our students also come from primarily Spanish-speaking homes. A good education, beginning with reading, is essential for our students to succeed.
