These supplies will allow us to create a Maker Space in the Library Media Center. Our students are looking for more, and are capable of producing great works if provided with the proper supplies. Arts, crafts, and robotic coding activities will challenge our many students that are interested in building and creating imaginative worlds and simple machines. Kids will love learning how to make their Ozobot robots spin, slide, speed up, and dance. They will plan and produce designs with Perler beads and Duct tape. It will allow students to have fun while using their critical thinking skills to create a product. Students will take responsibility for their learning, motivating them to become independent and lifelong learners. Students would be able to use makerspace resources every day in small groups, whole classes, or individually. We would also make them available during our weekly early morning Brain Boost times. Teachers may bring classes to the library to utilize them once the makerspace catches on. These activities could be completed free style or with suggested task cards or challenges. An added benefit of having the makerspace in the library, will be that it draws and attracts more and different students-- some who may have not enjoyed the library in the past. More students in the library, is bound to create more readers!
