I work at a diverse, inner-city elementary school where within my classroom students have diverse ethnic backgrounds, cultural values, and home languages. Half the population of our school qualifies for free or reduced lunch. Many of our students come to school with empty stomachs or lack of sleep, but we are committed to ensuring that all students have equal access to the resources and opportunities that they need to achieve. The students are exposed to the curriculum using hands-on projects, and teachers use different approaches to facilitate the diverse learning styles of our students. We are committed to having joyful learners at our school.
