"Sticks-n-Stones" The Power of Our Words

Funded Jan 27, 2023

Thank you so much for our donations! The students used the supplies that you generously donated during February's Respect for All week. During the Respect for All week, we read the book Stick and Stone by Beth Ferry. Students understood how powerful our words can be, how to think before we speak and what we say matters. Students explored how their words can hurt others and developed an understanding of others' perspectives.

In their classrooms, students made with the materials you donated their own "Stick"(breathing stick) and "Stone" (rock). "Stick"- is a tool for students to use when faced with an unkind situation. Students will use their breathing stick to take a moment, pause and then respond. "Stone"- students will paint their very own "Powerful Word" rock. Each student will think of a positive word that means something to them.

Thank you again for your donation! It really made a difference.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Pereira
