Strengthening Literacy Skills Og Style
Funded Dec 30, 2022Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the generous donations you provided for my students! Thanks to you, each and every student in my class has a toolbox with a wide variety of manipulatives that keeps them engaged in our literacy lessons, a whiteboard with markers and eraser that provides them access to proudly displaying their work in realtime, and instructional materials that assist me with providing scaffolded instruction that explicitly targets their needs. Some of their favorite supplies that you provided include a pop-it for each student so that they can segment phonemes in multi-syllabic words, and letter tiles that they can use when encoding words in word chains to support the development of spelling while practicing advanced phonics patterns. One of my favorite tools that we use literally every single day is the black plastic "scratch pad" that students use during our visual drill. The addition of this simple, yet effective tool has helped increase my students immediate recall of spelling patterns (vowel teams, digraphs, dipthongs, etc.). Your generous spirit and support of education has directly benefitted my students, and will continue to benefit elementary students in years to come. Thank you so much for making a difference in the life of children, and for supporting me in helping support them.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Akins
