• Stories through Videos

  Thank you for donating to my class. The students have had the opportunity of filming school events, and taking photographs. Now they are able to make i movies that help them elaborate on their personal narratives. They can use sensory details to describe their experiences with lots of details. They have collaboratively written about the events that they have documented like the College and Career Fair. They also documented a Latino Heritage fair, which they read about influential Latino activists, artists, athletes, actors and singers. To sum up, they have benefited greatly from your donation. • Alternative Seating

  Funded May 30, 2023

  Thank you for your generous donation. My students are able to use these alternative seating during silent sustained reading. They love utilizing the seating whenever they can. It has really increased their motivation to read. It has also allowed them to use the alternative seating during partner or group time.

  The students look forward to using the alternative seating whenever possible. They even move them and use them at their desks. Sometimes some just want to sit in order to regroup, which is nice for them to have such an option.”

• Supplies for Math Groups

  Thank you for supporting my students' learning through your donation. Your donation helped my small group instruction. We do not have hands-on materials when teaching fractions and decimals. The packs of fractions and decimals allowed my students the kinesthetic opportunity with a tangible object to learn the vital concepts of parts and wholes. Also thank you for the easel, I did not have one, which made teaching smaller groups difficult. Now I am able to roll it where I need it and use it for differentiated instruction. For example, I can use it near my rug and have students engaged in learning at their level.”

• Safety First!

  Thank you for providing extra safety for my kinder class. Due to Covid Pandemic students have had to adapt to our new learning environment. They have learned to take extra steps to keep themselves and others safe. The extra masks have helped students change them as necessary because Kinder students need to change their masks often.

  We use gloves and sanitizing wipes to clean our tables daily. I am able to spray lysol during my breaks to keep our room clean. Also students have their own sanitizers to use as needed without standing up and wasting instructional time.

  Students are very excited to be able to help me clean up and help everyone stay healthy. They especially like using the gloves.

  Students have been able to learn how to stop the virus and apply this knowledge at home.”

• Inclusion Please!

  As a kinder teacher students need kinesthetic opportunities to learn diverse subjects. My students have the opportunity to use paint, paint markers, oil pastels and brushes to express their learning.

  They have utilized the hand lenses to explore plants during science.

  The students were so excited to see the diverse materials we have for our creative expression of learning. They are always requesting to use these resources in our daily work.

  Students are excited to see what is next for example, we will learn about mixing colors to make others. We will learn that we cannot use paint on top of crayons or oil pastels. They will get an opportunity to create masterpieces using all the knowledge they have learned in art.”

• Learning Through Virtual Field Trips

  Just in the few weeks that I have had a 360 camera I have been able to have my students experience videos of cultural events, Día de los Muertos festival in nearby city. Also, I visited ELA pond near our school, Placita Olvera, our Gold Line down the street, Griffith Park, Eaton Canyon just to name a few natural sites and shared the videos with them. We watch and explore and that helps the students start their research papers and then they are able to look for other digital resources to finish their essays.

• Can You Do Science at Home?Yes You Can!

  Thank you for your generosity in providing science kits for my students. I provided some kits for students to use at home last year. This year I am using the kits in the classroom to motivate students to engage in hands on science.

  Students love hands on science and at times complain about book science. This is why I am so grateful for the opportunity for all children to engage in the scientific design process.

  We use these kits on Fun Fridays to apply the scientific concepts that we have learned in our science curriculum unit.
