Cross-Sections with Play-doh

Funded Aug 26, 2024

The new resources are assisting my students in understanding cross sections. Most students do not know what they will see when they slice a cylinder or a cone, vertically. Having them predict and then actually do the slicing, allows for students to better understand spatial reasoning a little better. The moment they realize it isn't what they thought and why is much more powerful than telling them.

My students were elated when they realized we were going to learn using play-doh. They did not know what to expect at first, but when they started "playing (as they put it)" the learning began. I am eternally grateful for donors like you that allow for differentiated learning for my students. The fact that you see how valuable these materials are is commendable. I thank you and my students thank from the bottom of our hearts. You made learning enjoyable and accessible to all my students.

I would like to integrate technology in my classroom. I am a firm believer that in this era of technology our children need to learn how to use technology for educational purposes, including coding using Texas Instrument calculators and Rovers. I order to inspire more students to join a STEM field, they need access to devices that will encourage their curiosity and their learning beyond the classroom.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Vasquez
