  • Inspiring Students Through Literature

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

Thank you so much for funding my project. Through your generous donation, you have helped to make my students better readers and confident students. We read for different purposes at different times throughout the day, but the silent reading time is my students' favorite time of the day. It is a time when they are able to read for pleasure. They get to choose a place around the room to read in and select books to read based on their interests. It is during this time that my students have read the books included in this bundle. They have enjoyed stories about courageous Latinos and Latinas in history along with fun stories like "Lucia la luchadora".

In addition, this bundle included biography books about Selena Quintanilla, Frida Khalo, and Ellen Ochoa. My students used these books as resources for their research project. They did research and created presentations about famous Latinos in history. Through this project my students not only applied their reading and presentation skills, but more importantly they read and saw themselves in these books and became inspired by the Latinos and Latinas featured in the books.”

  • Engaging and Motivating Through Distance Learning

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

In this day and age students are well immersed in technology everywhere they go and, in my classroom, it is no exception. We use technology daily to learn new things, practice skills, and create projects. Technology is for my students a more engaging tool they use to acquire knowledge within all content areas and is a way for them to present information as well. It also allows them to be creative and have fun while learning new concepts.

The Cricut Maker 3 is a tool that we use to build self-esteem, motivate, and inspire. It allows us to create personalized projects such as T-shirts, picture frames, and any other item we could use depending on the purpose, such as creating Mother's Day projects, or end of the year gifts. What is most exciting about this product is the limitless opportunity for creativity.

The Cricut Maker 3 is now a favorite tool we use in the classroom. Every student absolutely loves to use it. They get to design and create projects and that in itself is fun and exciting for them. My students got a chance to enjoy it this year and I know that my future students will also enjoy creating projects with it. I can't wait to continue to explore, design, and create projects with the Cricut Maker 3.”

  • Motivating, Engaging, and Creating With a Cricut Maker

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

I can not thank you enough for choosing my project and for your generosity. My students have absolutely loved the Cricut Maker 3. We are using it to create projects that motivate, inspire, and build self-esteem. One special project I created was a personalized end of the year gift for each one of my students to show how much they are special to me. They loved it very much and wanted to open it and use it right away.

It made me so happy to see their faces light up with emotion. I will continue to use the Cricut Maker 3 throughout the following years to build self-esteem, motivate, and inspire my future students. Thank you again for making this happen.”

  • Becoming ANEW Through CUE!

    Funded Dec 18, 2018

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to you for giving me the opportunity to attend this year's CUE conference in Palm Springs. I learned so much. I was amazed as to how many technology resources and applications there are out there. I also learned all about how to incorporate Design Thinking within my lessons. Best of all, I received all this learning from experts in the field. Along with this I was revitalized and so motivated by the fabulous and amazing guest speakers.

It's hard to pinpoint one highlight, but I will say that I enjoyed and found it very beneficial learning about how to incorporate Design thinking within my lessons. I am still at the beginning stages, but I plan to learn more and find best teaching practices on this so that may fully implement this in my classroom. I also enjoyed learning about Pear Deck which is a great addition to lessons because it allows for more student engagement something I am always focused on. I also learned about Quill which helps students and teachers with assessing and learning various writing skills.

Of all that I learned, I think Design thinking is of great value and look forward to efficiently implementing within my classroom. I have also begun to incorporate Quill. I just completed the first step of assessing my students' writing skills. It is a great resource. These are just two of the many things I learned and look forward to implementing. I just feel that I am so much better prepared as a teacher with regards to my technology knowledge and skills and I couldn't have done it without your support. I thank you again for the opportunity you have given me.”

  • Creating Healthy Bodies and Minds.

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I cannot even begin to express my sincere gratitude to you for your support and generosity. I am humbled by your actions. Thank you so much for selecting my "Creating Healthy Bodies and Minds" project for funding.

Your donation has allowed my students to have the necessary equipment that will allow them to have fun playing, learn sport skills, learn to work as a team, and overall maintain a healthy body and mind.

Since day one when I opened up all the boxes their eyes lit up. They wanted to go out to have a Physical Education session right away. They could not wait!

We started using the equipment after we assembled them; which was a week after we received them. After learning the rules of the game and practicing drills for some weeks, they were ready play a real soccer game. This day was very special for all of us. They were so excited to finally have new soccer balls, goal posts, corner flags, and pinnies to play a true game of soccer. They applied what they had learned, played as a team, and had lots of fun. All of them had huge smiles on their faces. It was very fulfilling to see that.

The soccer equipment has helped my students learn to play soccer, learn to play as a team, be healthy, and overall have stronger bodies and minds. This was evident in every soccer game they played. I was also able to see a change in the way they interacted in the classroom as well. They exhibited a more positive attitude and higher self-confidence. I was very pleased with the overall results. I will continue to develop my students' bodies and minds through every day classroom lessons and playground Physical Education lessons using the soccer equipment. I think this will be a good balance that will create healthy bodies and minds.

All of this could not have happened without your generous support. Thank you again for giving my students this opportunity for growth.”

  • "Just Right" Books

    Funded Apr 1, 2016

    Dear Donors,

I cannot even begin to express my sincere gratitude to you for your support and generosity. I am humbled by your actions. Thank you so much for selecting my "Just Right Books" project for funding.

Your donation has allowed my students to have access to books at their "just right" reading level. My students have truly enjoyed reading the books we have received.

These books have helped my students increase their reading fluency and comprehension. This was evident in their reading level results when they took the end of the year reading assessments. Along with acquiring much needed reading skills, with your donation you more importantly helped my students become more confident as readers and acquire a love of reading. That is more than I can ask for. These skills will lead them to success as they move through their academic path throughout their school years.

This could not have happened without your generous support. Thank you again for giving my students this opportunity for growth.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vazquez

  • Technology To The Rescue!

    Funded Jan 20, 2015

I hope you are all doing well. Thank you soooo much for your generosity. My students were absolutely thrilled with having an IPad to use in the classroom. They couldn't wait to unpack it and begin to use it. I created a special place for them to work along with a weekly schedule that allows every student to use the IPad throughout the day. They look forward to their time at the IPad center every day.

I downloaded various reading and math applications onto the IPad. Therefore, at the IPad center, students are able to work on either reinforcing and/or enhancing their reading and mathematical skills. More specifically, students are strengthening their abilities in reading fluency, comprehension, and spelling. In math, they are working on number concepts and solving basic arithmetic problems. In addition, they are working on other learning skills such as accessing their working, visual, and auditory memory, phonological awareness, and sequencing skills.

Having this IPad project funded allowed my students an opportunity to engage in a new type of learning that perhaps they might not ever have had the chance to. Because of this IPad, students are motivated to read, work on visual memory, and practice mathematical concepts. This will help with their reading fluency, comprehension, letter reversals, and number sense.

Once again, thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Vazquez

My students are English learners living in this community, trying to make the best of it all. They also have special needs such as learning disabilities, and speech and hearing deficits. Although, they are faced with difficult challenges to overcome, they continue to be optimistic and motivated to do their best. Thus, they deserve the best.
