  • Headsets for Fabulous 5th Graders

    Funded Nov 11, 2018

Thanks so much for your generous contribution to our classroom. The donation of these new headphones and splitters are making working with technology more comfortable and feasible. Here are some ways we use these headphones...

Every year I have a number of students who benefit from listening to text while following along visually. With the availability of audiobooks, I can provide this modification for dozens of books. These headphones allow students to listen with ease, especially when there is noisy work happening around them.

I have created a number of blogs for students. These are highly engaging as kids can research, read, navigate, and enjoy multimedia experiences. The headphones of course allow them to listen, and the splitters mean a group of kids can work together around the same computer.

Honestly the most exciting part of the product are the cushions on the headphones! Our old ones had deteriorated and were uncomfortable. All 30 of my students are enthusiastically making excellent use of our new headphones.

Thanks so much for your generosity!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Benoff

  • New Books for My Amazing Readers!

    Funded Oct 15, 2012

It is with sincere gratitude that I write to you in thanks for your donation to our classroom. The books are a smashing success!! Apologies for a bit of a delay in putting the finishing touches on my "thank-you package". It's only because my fabulous students have kept me so busy.

We are in the midst of our non-fiction study at the moment. This donation has meant that students have access lots to high-interest books at their level. This is no small feat! Choppers, First Kids and Earthquake have been particularly popular. The new fiction series are also quite hot commodities. The new Mallory series has inspired a couple of kids to start an afternoon book club. I know I'm gushing, but the kids are thrilled.

I genuinely appreciate your thoughtfulness! My students feel particularly delighted to know that a group of generous strangers has sent them such a large box of shiny new books. They are flying off the shelves! Thank you so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Benoff

I teach in an inclusion classroom. Our class is comprised of both learning disabled and non-disabled students. We have many students who are also English Language Learners. We are a Title I school located in a densely populated area in New York. My students have few books at home and tend not to have access to computers and the library. Despite these challenges, my students are an amazing, bright and motivated bunch. They are full of empathy and kindness and I feel proud to have the privilege of teaching them!
