Leap into Learning
Funded Jan 13, 2010My children just love the new reading system. They can't wait until it is their turn to read the new books I put out every day. The stylus works so well they had no trouble figuring out how to use it. I put my early finishers on first and then work my challenged readers into the Tag System. Good readers and slow readers all found it to be fun and exciting. You have helped them get more interested in books.
The variety of books you donated was fantastic and I supplemented them with some others that I found on sale at Walmart. There was a great selection for nonreaders and for advanced readers. Best of all, some of the children have even taken to reading the books without the machine. Thank you so much for giving my students another approach to learning to read.”

Print It!!
Funded Dec 29, 2009Thank you for making a difference in my students lives. They were so excited to get our ink cartridges. We have made a book about our class and each students got to add their page. I took photos of them sitting with their page open. It was a spin-off from the book Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See. The children wanted their own book so we made one just for them.
We will be making other books based on the grants we have had filled by yourselves and other wonderful caring donors. Thank you so much for making a difference in our class.
They also plan to make a book based on animals we will see on our trip to the Aquarium. We have made a book of thanks and are also sending that off to you. Thank you all for helping us reach our goal.”

This classroom project was brought to life by HP and National Lab Day and 5 other donors.Music Makes Me Want to Dance
Funded Nov 17, 2009My students loved the new musical instruments. The music teacher is planning a multicultural program for them. They will be able to tell about their country and then play the instruments. Many other classes will also benefit from this grant but my students are the most important to me. Thank you for giving them the chance to experience another culture through music. They were fascinated by the different instruments and already have played them and danced to their beat.
You have helped create future musicians perhaps. They needed to hear music from other cultures and learn about those countries as well. Your kind donations have given them that chance. Thank you.”

I Made a Mistake
Funded Dec 31, 2009Thank you all for your generous donation to our class. We no longer have to use a little handheld sharpener to get ready to work. The children caught on quickly on how to use the new sharpener. We all got our first new pencil and practiced using the sharpener. Everyone took a new eraser and was very happy to be able to correct their own mistakes without making a terrible mess on their papers.
I wrote their names on the pencils so they could learn to be more responsible for keeping track of their own property. So far no one has lost their pencils or erasers and they don't seem to be chewed up or eaten. I am so proud of their progress toward independence. Thank you again for helping us out.”

Let The Walls Ring
Funded Oct 10, 2009Thank you so much for donating the bells to our music program. They came yesterday and the music teacher has already started using them with my class and the other primary classes. The music is simple and wonderful to hear. All the children in a class can participate at the same time which eliminates boredom and discipline problems. The students are so excited about being able to play songs they can identify, that they are begging to go to music during their lunch times. The wall in our building are truly ringing with the sounds, not only of bells but of happy active participants. Thank you again for filling their lives with music.”

Being Here Is the Key to Learning
Funded Aug 14, 2009Thank you for caring about the students at our schools. We have struggled to get the children here every day for years. This year I have children crying because they have to miss a day if they are ill. The children are so happy to get to pick a sticker every day that says they are special. After our first week we had only one student out. He was sick and still wanted to attend to get his prize. The students, who earned a free pencil, loved the ones we selected and were trying to sharpen them to take home. They check the bulletin board everyday to see if they are still in the running and to see who else has good attendance. We decorated our board with frogs and lily pads and after a month the frogs will have the names of students with perfect attendance. Everyone wants a frog. If they keep it all year, they get to take it home. Thank you again for giving them a boost in the right direction. I could not have done it alone. You are super special people. ”

This classroom project was brought to life by Wright Family Foundation and one other donor.Quick! Where Am I?
Funded May 14, 2009Thank you for funding our grant. My children are wild about the boards. They want to use them all day long. We have used them in reading so I can assess who knows sounds and letters. We use them in math to solve problems, write facts and compare numbers. The children used them in science to show different animals and their life cycles. We use them for fact fluency. They are one of the best materials I have ever gotten for my class. Thank you again for making such a big impact on my class. I can quickly assess who has a skill and who needs more work on it. It is a wonderful asset to our class.”

Take Us to the Center of Our Reading World
Funded Jul 7, 2009My students have found the reading centers to be exciting tools to learn or practice new skills. They tried out the beginning consonant activity and loved it. The activity on rhyming words was also a hit. They had a little difficulty with the sequencing activity until I modified it. We can't tell you how much this has meant to our class. We now have small centers with 2 or 3 children trying out new activities and learning. They are so excited they all want to be in the group that gets to use reading centers. I am just happy that they are excited enough about reading to want to do different things. It was truly a special thing that you did donating these materials to our class. Thank you from all of my wonderful students. ”

An Artistic Experience
Funded Apr 21, 2009It is amazing how deeply you have touched my students. They loved the materials that we received from your generous donations and have finished their first project. The smiles you see on their faces are a reflection of how much the baskets meant to them. We turned our Easter basket project into a Mother's Day basket that the children loved weaving. We filled it with Easter grass. I bought each child a candle, soap and a clip to add to their baskets. Then they made little scented gifts to add to their baskets to make a special gift for mom. They enjoyed this project so much that I can't thank you enough.
Our next project will start this week when we work on our photo frames for our dads. We took pictures with our baskets, of our butterflies, on a field trip and in the class room to attach to our photo frames. The children each want to make a personalized picture for their dads. We will have a great time. Thank you again for the opportunity for my children to make an art project. You were heaven sent.”

Make a Book
Funded Jan 19, 2009Thank you so much for your donations to our project. The children have written many books which they get to keep and take home. They needed the new paper and binding combs to create more books. They were so happy when they heard our grant was funded. They are already planning to make a book of thank yous for the donors. You have made my class very happy but we also share with many other teachers who will also have the opportunity to create books with their classes as well. We also make books for our daily workshop inquiry lessons and in many other areas of instruction. Thank you again for donating to this worthy project.
