Say Cheese!
Funded Dec 1, 2021Thank you for your support this very challenging year. To motivate students in the 6th grade I wanted to have a fun tool that I knew the kids loved to use! The instant camara is just that! Students get to use it as a reward and to decorate our classroom. This is making an impact in the social-emotional well being of the class. This camera is fun and exciting and they get to see their pictures up on the bulletin board instantly. I have a photo monitor that takes care of the camara and makes sure we all have an opportunity to take a picture. Some students have even brought camara film to share.”

Funded Nov 10, 2021Thank you so much for your donation. With your donation I was able to purchase books and materials to help my students have an organized and productive year. To start I ordered the book Esperanza Rising for my class to read as their first novel of the year. For many this was the first chapter book they had read in a year. We were able to read it together and discuss important themes.
I also ordered materials to organize students' work areas. Pencil boxes, sticky notes, correction tape, pencils, binders and sheet protectors. These materials are used daily and help students take notes and keep important reference materials such as multiplication charts handy.
Thank you so much for making a difference in our class!”

Funded Nov 10, 2021Thank you for your donation to my class. We use our chrome books daily. We write in online jounals, take tests, read and research. The new charging cart has been great for keeping all the technogy fully charged or put away throughout the day.
This cart was an exciting tool for the kids because before we just connected the computers around they room at various outlets. Now they are in a central location.
In order to facilitate the process I have students technology monitors that help organize cables and pass out devices.
Thank you for your support.”

Funded Nov 10, 2021Thank you for your donation. With your donation I was able to purchase Extra Large Lakeshore Seat storage compartments. These have been very helpful for all students store materias.
We are a dual language classroom which means that many time we have materials in both English and Spanish! This creates difficulties with storage. Now students put the small journals for reading and writing in the back pouches, allowing them to keep the larger books and workbooks inside their desk.
The students were very happy and surprised becuse the seat sacs were so big. They love having materials that are used daily in easy reach.”

Funded Jul 12, 2021Thank you for your donation to my classrooms' fresh start! Being out of the classroom for a year and a half was hard and when we returned after the pandemic to in person instruction, I wanted to have materials and ambiance in place for a the new school year. I was also starting with 6th grade so I figured they needed a fresh start.
Supplies I ordered helped out my students by starting the school year out with the basics, pencil box, post it's for note taking, pencils, colors, games. I try to not make a great deal of copies so charts and reference materials are kept in plastic sheet protectors for the whole year.
I also ordered fadeless bulletin board paper in designs that could be reused the whole year saving valuable time. Posters featuring growth mindset quotes are some we use on a daily basis reminding us to DO OUR BEST!”

Funded May 17, 2021Last year my second graders had to learn online. Throughout the year, we focused on the book series "Mercy Watson". This fun series revolves around the mischievousness of a pig named Mercy.
My students LOVED reading these books daily. For my project I ordered the books so my students could have their own copies at home. Even though we had read them, they loved reading them again and again. We used this series to explore characters, setting and plot. We also practiced reading with expression and new vocabulary words.
All my students enjoyed reading these books, some even read the chapter book series that followed. Thank you for your support!”

Funded May 7, 2021Thank you for funding my project for two $100.00 gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers. Teacher Pay Teachers (TPT) is an online marketplace where teachers buy and sell original educational materials. This website has a plethora of materials that are common core aligned and sorted by grade level and subject.
Through this site, I have been able to purchase materials that align with my vision for my current class. This is my first-year teaching 6th grade and I did not have many materials for this age or grade. TPT has allowed me to gain ideas and ready to use materials for lessons. Some examples are reading comprehension, growth mindset, writing, math.
Currently we are reading the novel Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan and learning close reading skills through Notice and Note by Beers and Probst. I was alble to find resources that aligned both topics to help my students become better close readers.”

Funded May 7, 2021Thank you fro funding an IPad for my classroom. Testing a fact in our schools. The Ipad helpds me to quickly assess in reading. I have used it as a tool to check progress and modify instuction. I am able to take it anywhere, so I can assess in a quiet area. This has allowed me to monitor improve planning. Various groups are assessed every week, and having an IPad has made the process much smoother.
My students are able to use the iPad to read kindle books in a reading area and to research and make iMovie and presentations.
All my students LOVE the newness and the ease of working with the IPad. They are also able to video Flip Grids and present to the class. They say the camara and microphone work very well.
Thank you for our new technology!”

Funded Jan 7, 2021Thank you very much for your donation! Every week we are working on various art concepts. We especially like Art Hub for kids. This site guides students to draw pictures and to develop watercolor techniques. We use the drawing paper and watercolors to create projects weekly.
We have also attended virtual field trips to museums and use the construction paper to create abstract art work as well as cards for Easter and special occasions.
My students and parents were very appreciative for the materials this project was able to provide.
Thank you very much for your support. In these difficult times, my class and their families appreciate your kindness.”

Funded Sep 17, 2020I ordered two types of headphone for my students. I saw that many of them did not have headphones and many had siblings working close to them at home. Although this is not a high tech item, many parents are having to provide kids with materials that may not be in their budget during this pandemic. Simple headphones have helped my students focus during lessons.
The most exciting things for my students about the headphones is they own them and don't have to share! In some cases I had enough to give to siblings.
I also purchased age appropriate writing journals. 2nd graders are still practicing penmanship and in some cases even wide rule composition books don't provide enough space. These journals also have a large blank area for drawing, which allows students to draw before they write.”
