  • Period Comfort

    Funded Jan 17, 2025

Thank you for funding my project of books, sanitary items and bags for our 6th grade students. The girls were so very excited to be able to talk about this very normal stage of life. Some students are still had not gotten their period and were very curious to ask questions and read the books. Many of them check out the books and read them as long as they like. We have started a club meeting monthly were we all have lunch together and discuss issues they may have, about their period and other school topics. This has helped me get to know all of them so much more. All the girls know that they have a trusting adult they can count on. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

  • New Year Materials

    Funded Oct 22, 2023

Thank you for funding my back to school materials project . A very important thing that I ordered was white boards with a grid on one side. This grid helps my 6th graders in all areas especially math. They learn about the coordinate grid as well as help them allign numerals when adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. I also ordered a variety of fadless construction paper that students us to create a self portrait. This is an art project we keep up all year and with the paper it stays vivid and bright. Thank you for all your help.”

  • "Calming Area"

    Funded Mar 13, 2023

Mental health and wellbeing have been a focus in my class since we returned from the pandemic. Having a calming space for my class has added that corner where students can read, relax or just simply take a little mental break. My 6th graders love to sit with friends to work on projects and collaborate too.

When my students saw the space, they were so excited, if it were up to them we everyone would have a bean bag to sit at. The rainbow liquid sensory viewers have been one of the most surprising additions in this space. They are shaped like an hour glass but with different colors inside. My students find them soothing to use.

Many times we think that only little ones under second grade may want a calming area, but the truth is all age levels benefit from a place to relax. Thank you and Room 12 thanks you too!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Castillo Gonzalez

Thank you for your donations to My project for Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards. Teachers Pay teachers is a site where teachers all around the world can make learning resources. I have been able to purchase resources for math, reading, social studies and health and wellness. These resources have complimented my curriculum and enriched student learning. I have purchased all about me activities for the beginning of the year as well as note taking resrouces for math on Rates and percentages. These have helped my students grasp concepts and assisted them as a study guide.”

  • Words of Wisdom

    Funded Jun 21, 2022

Thank you so very much for your donation to fund my class set of 365 days of Wonder! I am working daily with my students to promote health and wellness. With this book of inspirational quotes and precepts I hope to infuse daily inspiration and hope.

Everyday we start the day with reading the precept of the day. We discuss it's meaning and how it can be applied in daily life. Danny is a student who loves being in charge of the daily ritual. Some precepts are good and some are GREAT, according to him! This book has been a great companion as we read Wonder by RJ Palacios also. Thank you for your donation.”

  • Powerful Literature

    Funded Jan 7, 2022

Thank you for your donation to my project this year. I read many books aloud throughout the year. We particularly enjoyed reading Freak the Mighty by Rodrick Philbrick. This story kept the class in suspense as there were many plot twists and sad moments. This book was about two unlikely kids that become best friends. In the end, they each teach each other many valuable life lessons. Students learned new vocabulary, craft of the writer and created the posters of the characters shown on the slide show. We are still reading Wild Robot and hope to finish by the end of the school year. Thank you for supporting literacy in the classroom!”

My students have progressed a great deal in math this year. We have focused on explaining their mathematical thinking and showing their work in multiple ways. We have worked on persevering with problems and to share their knowledge with others. I would like to request a summer math program to reinforce skills and allow my kids time to practice. Many of my students have access to computers through the local library and visit it regularly. Parents want their children to be engaged and not suffer the SUMMER SLIDE.
