Engage With Kinesthetic Learning
Funded Nov 12, 2024Thank you very much for your generous donations to this project! The items you provided have helped the students keep their bodies moving while maintaining their focus on learning. This has been especially helpful during the cold winter months in New York!
The students really appreciate the bouncy chair feet, which enable them to wiggle while working, and the bouncy board, which they can use for a quick jumping break. The large number stickers have also helped us put movement into our math lessons and the kids enjoy jumping from number to number to practice skip counting.
Thank you again for your support of education and learners with unique needs!”

Funded Sep 6, 2023Thank you very much for your support of this project. My students have enjoyed the new seating choices and using the sensory items that are nicely organized now!
The rocker chairs have enabled the kids to have some physical movement while engaged in whole-group instruction and the "gaming" chairs have become part of our break area. The students are able to go to a chair, pick a fidget, breath ball or other item, and enjoy a break to get them back on track for learning. Our new carpet has also made our classroom library more comfortable and inspired some of the kids to sing the alphabet song when they see it!
Thank you again for your support of education.”

Funded Mar 30, 2023Thank you very much for your donations to Spring Book Refresh! Now that school is back in session, we have been able to continue giving books as rewards for a variety of achievements. Your donations have enabled us to have a fresh and interesting supply of books in our book vending machine each month.
Our book vending machine is located in the front entrance, so students will often look at the books and comment about the ones that they hope to "purchase" and read. Earning tokens by demonstrating positive character traits such as kindness and responsibility has encouraged many of our students and has deepened their understanding of what those traits mean.
Thank you again for your generosity and for supporting our learners!”

Funded Nov 21, 2022Thank you all for your generosity in funding this project! My students are really enjoying the materials that I was able to purchase.
We are using the manipulatives and instructional materials as a part of the classroom's formal math instruction but the students are enjoying them so much that they are choosing to "play" with math during their free choice time. They especially enjoy putting the cubes into different number formations and making steps of "one more". The students are also enjoying the Wiki Sticks as a different way to make numbers, letters and shapes (and sometimes silly faces!).
Thank you again for supporting this project and the great work of Donors Choose!”

Funded Apr 27, 2022Thank you all so much for your generous donations to "Just Right Books for All"! Our school received a book vending machine through district funds and your donations allowed us to purchase enough books to fill the machine and enough vending machine tokens for every student in the school to have one. This has been an amazing project!
We were able to purchase books for grade levels Kindergarten to 5th grade and included fiction and non-fiction as well as books to spark students' interest in science, technology and the arts and books written by a diverse selection of authors.
Students can earn vending machine tokens in a variety of ways and we are celebrating their accomplishments with a "Token Tuesday" every month. As you can see from the photos, they are so proud and excited to spend their tokens!
Our staff and students appreciate your donations and commitment to inspiring students to love reading!”

Flexible Learning Spaces for Young Learners
Funded Aug 26, 2021Thank you to everyone who donated to this project! As you can see from the photos, the furniture is so useful and helpful for designating different play areas.
The drawers have organized our play kitchen and it is getting a lot more use. The kids are practicing their social skills while serving up some "interesting" sandwiches!
The seating unit allows students to have their designated spots during carpet activities as well as access to things we need for movement breaks. We are able to use our musical instruments and parachute much more since we don't have to dig them out of a closet!
Thanks again for your contribution and your support of my students!”

Funded May 20, 2021Thank you very much for supporting this project! The students had a great summer using the materials to support their learning in reading, math and social skills. Some of their favorite activities were using the dot markers to make ice cream scoops of different colors for counting practice and reading the books about ocean animals. They also enjoyed using the kinetic sand and the bubble machine for sensory breaks. Now that the fall term has begun, we are still getting use out of many of the materials. Thanks again to all the donors who contributed!”

Funded May 28, 2020Thank you so much for supporting this project! I purchased high quality materials for my students to use while they were engaged in distance learning from March through September. These materials really helped my students stay engaged and it helped their parents and caregivers support their learning at home.
Through virtual meetings, I was able to play cards for math practice, share spelling words, teach shapes and numbers and support social skills. The students also had the opportunity to be creative through the tons of art materials they received, including dough, poms, googly eyes, piper cleaners and craft sticks. One of my students even built a house for her favorite stuffed animal from the supplies!
These supplies were so important for my students during this unique learning situation. While I hope that we are able to have 100% in-person instruction soon, I know that the children's connection to learning is stronger because of these great materials.”

Funded Dec 20, 2018Thank you so much for the generous donation enabling us to purchase books and games for our classroom library. The students are enjoying all the additions and their parents have been able to participate in reading at home as well!
Game playing skills, home-school connection and reading for enjoyment have been the main focus when using our new books and games. As our students have been learning the rules of games, taking turns and being a good sport, they have improved in their social skills.
Students have also been taking books home each night to read with their families. Many students have read a book every night and are really enjoying the interaction with their families.
Some of our students particularly love the alphabet games that we received. There are many different ways to play with the same game board so they won't get bored any time soon!
Thanks again for your donation and support of our classroom”
