My class is a Deaf Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade classroom. All of my students are Deaf which means they are very tactile and visual. And due to their young age, they have a hard time sitting still for longer periods of time. My students would benefit greatly from exposure to objects that can stimulate their brain in a different manner than just the visual input that they receive from daily instruction in American Sign Language. Many of my students have extra needs and therefore need items to touch and play with to focus on any task in class. Sensory toys will help them strengthen their fine motor skills, calm them down, and focus them for sitting for longer than 5 minutes at a time. Some of the students require movement and pressure to be able to focus as well in which a sensory pad, weighted blanket, and wiggle cushions would help with.
