  • Help With Economic Responsibility

    Words can not express how grateful we are for your generosity. The gift you have given our classroom, and the students that are in it, is priceless. Through your donation, the students are learning a valuable life skill they will be able to utilize for years to come.

    We have used the wallets daily since getting them. The students were so excited to decorate them and take great pride in keeping the wallets clean and neat. The wallets represent so much to the students and we thank you for getting them for us.

    The money has really motivated the students to perform their tasks, complete homework and behave in class because they get paid for these activities. In addition, they need to make enough money to pay their "rent" each month. This is teaching them the financial responsibility that they will need to work to earn money for what need. Their eyes were as huge as saucers when they watched me open the cash register that we would use to record our transactions. Thank you so much!

    What an amazing gift you have given my students. Many of my students do not have the opportunity to attain the background knowledge they need to master reading Informational Text. Due to your generosity, they will get some much needed practice in a fun and exciting way. This is the gift that will give for the entire year. In addition to the high interest and relevant articles, Scholastic offers practice for the students to use text features like maps, graphs, and charts that they pair with their articles. In each issue, there is specific skills practice that will help students with their annual testing. All of my students look forward to receiving their issue each week. I can't thank you enough once again for the gift of literacy.”

Scholastic News is an invaluable resource that keeps coming all year long. The students get so excited anticipating every new issue. These subscriptions contain Informational Text in Science, Social Studies, Geography, Health, and the Arts. In addition, it has high interest, current events and topics relevant to students. It gives the students reading comprehension practice and helps practice other skills like analyzing maps and graphs that helps them achieve at higher levels. Scholastic News really helps reading comprehension. I am also requesting a set of black and colored ink. In the classroom, I use my printer almost daily to copy extra resources I need for lessons or that "one paper" a student lost. The school does not pay for the ink we use in our printers and it is expensive to continue replacing the cartridges.
