My students need Osmo Numbers, where kids arrange physical tiles, including dots and digits, to make numbers and complete levels. They add by putting more tiles, subtract by removing tiles and multiply by connecting tiles together, to use with the iPad during math centers. This will increase their fluency and number sense in an interactive way that differentiates itself. I would also like to include an Osmo Pizza game to use in order to teach money skills. This is a magical way to teach kids about running a business. I try to incorporate as much interactivity and real life applications into the curriculum. Using Osmo Pizza and Osmo Numbers with the iPad will help me differentiate and motivate my students. These systems will provide endless opportunities for problem solving and blossoming creativity. I would like to be able to set up a small learning center in which the students can utilize the iPad within the classroom. There are many great iPad applications for math and reading that my students can enjoy while learning and gaining technological skills. In addition to these apps, the students will learn typing skills that is beneficial and much needed in fifth grade and for their future. With these practiced skills, I plan to teach them how to research topics that interest them, and learn more about the world.
