Bee-Bot Robots
Funded Jan 2, 2023The children love to use the Bee-Bot Robots. It helps them to follow directions, to plan and predict the movement of the Bot. We also like to use the Big City Building Blocks. It's nice because we live so close to the city and these blocks can simulate what they see on a daily basis, many tall buildings.
The Fidget Poppers and the Triangle Therapy are good for the children who like to hold things in their hands. I see the students using them during play time and rest time.. I even like to use them myself. The material is nice and soft. It soothes them when they need it and me too.”

Enhancing Our Classroom
Funded Oct 12, 2022I am so happy to have the materials that you donated to my class. It has helped my students to regulate their emotions, enhance my dramatic play area and math area.
First, the stretch connect builders have been helpful for a student that is having a problem regulating her feelings. She on occasion, has had tantrums where she has thrown crayons and other objects on the floor. Now when this happens, she goes to the cozy corner and she uses the stretch connect builders to help her sooth herself. She has even told me that it helps her. I said Great!
The appliances are a hit also. They make smoothies for me and coffee. They mix fruit in the blender. It has opened up a whole different entry point for conversation. Wonderful.
The clipboards we use in the block area to plan what we will be building. They make "blueprints".”

Mrs. Kyriacou
Let's Play A Game Together
Funded Nov 16, 2021I waited this long to thank you for your kindness because I wanted the school year to be a little more advanced so the students can enjoy the games. Being a student in Pre-K, they have many things to learn and one of them is taking turns.
We started to play the games about a few weeks ago. They have grown to love the games and want to play them often. I like to have them as a choice activity during center time. We have center time twice a day and on Tuesday, Mrs. K. my para, loves to play the games with them. She usually does art work with them but since the art teacher comes in that day, she plays the games. Candy Land is the favorite.
Thanks for your donation. It has enriched my students' Pre-K experience.”

Mrs. Kyriacou
We Love To Move It, Move It.
Funded Mar 24, 2021I can't thank you enough for donating to my classroom. Daily, my class is alive with music. It brings great joy to my students and me.
First, in the morning when they come into the classroom, I have the morning music playing and it sets the tone for the day. The music is uplifting and joyous. Without the speaker, we had to use the laptop and we couldn't hear the music especially during center time. That's the time when the classroom is alive with learning and activity. I didn't even turn the music on. I didn't like that but we couldn't hear anything.
Second, it helps me on rainy days when we can't go outside and play. We exercise in the classroom and we put on videos where the children like to dance and follow along. Even during nap time, I play soothing music from all different cultures and genres to help them fall asleep or relax.
Last, I love it when I hear the children singing along while they are working in centers.”

Mrs. Kyriacou

Funded Dec 1, 2020I want to thank you all for the donation to my classroom. The items that were purchased with your donation, has enhanced my classroom greatly.
One way in which your donation has helped is, the construction vehicles, fire engines, and airplane are played with every day in the block center. The children like to change the detachable parts of the vehicles and change the look of the vehicle. I can teach them about magnets, that is how they can reassemble the vehicles, and I can ask them many different thought provoking questions. Asking those questions, gives me an opportunity to help them think about why and if. I feel this is so important because I don't feel that the adults at their homes are conversing with them in a thought provoking way. That is why we do it at school.
Another way, is the conversation that is happening between the students. It is great to hear and the toys helps them to interact with one and other.”

Funded Aug 8, 2020Thank you for your generosity. It is wonderful that you have thought about our class for your donation.
The toys that were purchased with your donation can help in so many ways. For example, the plastic shapes that we use on the floor is good to help the students choose a spot to sit on since we had to get rid of our carpet. Also, that helps the students to keep their distance when we have large group meetings. The children also love the new puzzle. They enjoy working together. It helps them to talk about and work together to solve a problem.
Thank you for your kindness.”

Mrs. Kyriacou
Helping Us Grow Together
Funded Aug 31, 2020As you can see from the pictures my students are enjoying the materials that you donated to my class. I chose materials that were easy to clean so the students can enjoy them safely. It is very difficult during these times to have students play safely.
I like the sensory balls that I bought because the children can use them in multiple areas. I use them in the sand area, play dough area and also for playing catch in the classroom during gross motor time, play/outside time.
I know this year was going to be a challenge but with these new resources, I feel more confident that my students are learning safely.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Kyriacou
We Are Same, We Are Different
Funded Dec 24, 2019I love it when my classroom is organized for my students. The neon paper trays that were purchased using funds from your donation made it easier for my students to set our tables. The trays are big enough that they can hold the milk, plates etc.
For the water play, I purchased the washable sensory balls which is good for a child to exercise their fine motor skills. With the sensory noodles, they like to build things like houses and it also teaches them about sinking and floating.
Last, they love to build with the clip and create builders, and the crazy shape magnetic build set. They build rockets and things that propel.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Kyriacou

Funded Dec 3, 2019Having the bilingual carpet in the classroom is a wonderful teaching tool for me.
First, I can give clear concise directions as to where I would like them to sit during group meeting time. It's less confusing for my students as to what my expectations are for them during transition points, where should I sit?
Next, I can also do a little, quick instruction which is a help during transition times, ex. letter recognition, picture recognition, color recognition, initial letter of their name recognition.
Last, it is much more colorful and inviting.”

Funded Jan 4, 2020The vacuum cleaner is a wonderful tool to have in the classroom. It keeps the classroom clean and neat.
Although in the morning when I come in to the classroom, the rug has been vacuumed, I need sometimes to vacuum a second time during the day. We have been building and using it throughout the morning, it tends to get dirty.
It is also nice to keep the other rugs that I have cleaned. The custodial crew only vacuums the major carpet in the front of the class. I also have three other rugs, one in the library area, math area, and the dramatic play area.”
