  • A Rug for our Kindergarten Classroom

    Funded Dec 8, 2008

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I write this note of thanks to you for your generous donation. My students and I were in great need of this rug and it will be fully used to benefit their education. We will now be able to sit comfortably during our read aloud session. Reading aloud is very important for young children in order to improve their listening and memory skills.

Again I want to express my sincere gratitude and wish you all the best for the holiday season and the coming new year.

    Sincerely,

    Winsome ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Burnett

My students are special education students and at the beginning of the school year were all non-readers. Through the use of various phonetic programs I am happy to say that they are all currently reading, some are not on grade level but have made significant progress with their reading skills. My school is located in a very economically challenged part of New York City. Books are often left off the shopping list. Ninety-eight percent of the children receive free lunches.
