I teach 1st grade in Baltimore City Schools. We are a Title I and Reading First school. Most of our children come from very low income homes. Unfortunately we are in restructuring and are under enormous pressure to produce results in the form of increased test scores. Unless this happens we risk being shut down. Our school is a vital part of the community. We house the PAL (Police Athletic League) Center and have a small playground the students use before and after school. I would just hate to see the children and the community lose such an important asset like a school.
