  • A Nook for Higher Learning!

    Funded Jun 17, 2013

I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children. In all content areas, a Nook will make learning a more hands on experience.

The Nook that you have funded will enable students to understand and visualize the areas being taught. With the new common core standards my students will have an easier time adjusting to the curriculum with a hands on experience.

Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce the Nook to my fabulous students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gonzalez

  • Let's Keep the Bullies Away!

    Funded Jun 11, 2012

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my students. The "Bullying" books and Document Camera have enhanced my teaching of the topic of bullying. The children have come to understand and identify the bully, the victim, and the bystander. The discussions that the stories have created, have allowed the students to understand and gain confidence against bullies!

Our school, being part of NYC DOE has and continues to encounter budget shortfall especially in the topics that are import ants to society and out students. Without the help of you guys, the students would never have the vital resources of the topic regarding bullying.

Without donors like you, bullying would not be understood and children will not know and gain the confidence to understand and stand-up for themselves! My heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all your helpful donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gonzalez

I teach 550 students over a 2 week period of time. I teach kindergarten all the way to 5th grade. Many of the students come in, not speaking the language so may react instantly in a negative fashion toward another classmate. I go into classes every week giving lessons on bullying. My students are all from different backgrounds and cultures. My school is considered a "Title 1 School". This means that every student in our school receives free lunch due to their families income. Many of my students do not understand the concepts of negative comments that are made that escalates to a bully situation. Reaching out to the different cultures and allowing them to understand it is OK to be different and not react to the negative points of an individual is the goal I would like to reach.
