  • Not Today Germs!

    Funded Apr 13, 2021

This past school year has been like no other. Although our classrooms do not resemble what once was, they are still a safe place for many of our students. COVID-19 protocols have changed the way our students interact, learn, and socialize.

Since receiving the desk shields we were able to use them in order to keep each other healthy. Students were excited to have a safe space at their own desk. My students were visibly at ease interacting, socializing, and participating in class discussions. Such a simple design and yet it brought a little bit of hope that we were slowly working back into "normalcy" one step at a time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rendon

  • App-Ortunities Abound

    Funded Oct 19, 2019

Thanks to your generosity my students have been able to access books on line and listen to reading during readers workshop. They have been able to use the tablets to access educational sites and games. My students have also been able to use different educational apps that have helped them further reinforce their learning in both reading and math. The tablets have introduced my students to a range of educational websites that target their instructional needs.

The tablets provide a new and exciting mode of learning which has made furthering their education something they look forward to. My students are fearless when it comes to technology. They navigate apps and websites without any trepidation. My students enjoy using the tablets since it is something they are more familiar with. My students like the ease with which they navigate sites, games and apps with the use of the tablets.

Most of my students look forward to using the tablets because of ease of use. Since students are familiar with smart phones, they are very comfortable with the tablets. They require less assistance from myself and therefore have become more independent where technology is concerned.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rendon

  • Let's Get Moving!

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

My students and I are ever so grateful for your generosity. They were in awe of the plasma cars and even more so of the helmets. For most of my students it was the first they had ever used one. They were very excited when we received the cars and were eager to use them.

We have been able to go out in the school yard and use the plasma cars. They have had a so much fun learning how they are used. Many of my students wanted to push themselves instead of using the momentum created by the steering wheel of the plasma cars. It took my students a couple tries before they got used to the handling of the cars.

We have also been able to incorporate learning about bicycle safety and are sure to use the helmets every time we use the plasma cars. Students take safety very seriously and are ready to educate others about why helmets are so important. They have also grown to enjoy physical education more now that they have more options when they are outside. This in turn has served as motivation for students during classroom instruction.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rendon

  • A Reader Is a Reader No Matter How Small

    Funded Mar 23, 2012

Thanks to your generosity my students have the opportunity to listen to books independently. They love holding the book in their hands as they follow along with the story.

Having a listening center in our classroom has benefited my students greatly. From my emergent to my fluent readers, my students have become more confident in their listening and reading skills. Some of my students have begun to recognize sight words independently.

It is truly amazing the impact something like a listening center can have on a classroom. Thank you again for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rendon
