Do Worms Have Eyes?..... And Where Are Their Ears?
Funded Jun 22, 2010I am so grateful for your generous support of our project. I wish you could have seen all those young faces bursting with excitement and heard the cheers when we opened the box containing the microscopes! The books arrived shortly after and I barely got them unwrapped when the class responded with "let's read them NOW!". The guided reading book sets are perfect for getting my students engaged in great discussions and the titles are great companions to our science topics. It is so exciting to watch and listen to my students making connections to real world experiences through the use of these materials. Most of our work with the microscopes will begin in early spring. We have taken a peek at some prepared slides of feathers and antennae which was very exciting! Just that "peek" aroused their curiosity to the point of asking many questions and started a brainstorming session for other things we could look at under the microscopes. Having two microscopes is great because we can be use them as one of our Center activities.
Our classroom is a richer environment for learning because of your support. The materials that were purchased for this project will have a significant impact on the experiences children will have in science and literacy. These experiences will help to develop a strong foundation for science interests and inquiry. Thank you for being such an integral part of a child's future!”

Funded Jun 24, 2008Thank you so very much for your support through the DonorsChoose program! As I end this school year, I am already thinking about September and how much easier my teaching day will be because of the materials that I will be receiving due to your generosity! Our classroom budgets are shrinking every year and it gets harder and harder to replace costly old materials...I tend to tape and mend or replace items with hand-me-downs. The teaching easel and pocket chart stand are basic daily tools that I need to provide a quality education for my students. Thank you! I am looking forward to being able to take some pictures to share with you when school resumes in September!
