I work at an urban school district where many students get "bused" in so they can get a better education. Due to the economy and the downsizing of local companies, many students have seen their parents enter the world of unemployment. On 73% of the students in my school qualify for free and reduced lunch. One would think that with all of these issues facing them, all I would hear is complaints--however, my students are some of the most positive, upbeat children I've met. Our school has about 700 students and we have a library with 30 computers and two sets of "COWS" or computers on wheels. Yes, this means we have 90 computers to service all of our student body. In my classroom, I have an overhead projector that needs transparencies to use. Overall, we as a school, lack the technology needed to serve all of our students in the growing technological world.
