  • Personalized Water Bottles

    Funded Nov 13, 2022

Thank you ALL for your kind donations, Hydration is very important to staying focus in class and insulated water bottles tend to be very expensive for parents. The water fountain in our classroom is currently out of order.

With your help, I have the opportunity to give back to my parents and my students this gesture of a personalized water bottle.

Students will not forget to bring water to class less often because they would have a high-quality water bottle to bring and drink water as many times as they need.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barran

  • An Apple a Day, Helps Students Learn Everyday!

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

My students and I are grateful for all of your donations because of your help our class project was founded. One of my goals, as their teacher, is to improve their academic achievement and close the gap between socioeconomic groups. In many cases, some of my students show up to school as an empty canvas, eager to learn, and it is my responsibility to offer them technological experiences that foster success. My goal is to provide my students with educational experiences that will ensure that the future leaders of this global society are successful.

My students are required to complete a variety of district assessments online. I also provide daily small group instruction to my students. This computer would allow me an opportunity to provide support with testing and instruction in a small group setting. Technology is at the center of education and should be used daily to provide cutting-edge instruction.

Thanks to my donors, my students will use this MacBook Air to access online assessments and educational programs that will enrich their learning experience. I will also be able to read directions to them for clarity, without interrupting the flow of instruction for others who are working independently.

Having my students explore on the computer will be a great way to increase their performance in all content areas.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barran

  • Geographical Impact on the Development of Latin America

    Funded Feb 1, 2012

Dear Carly Glazer and Barclays Capital,

I would like to express my gratitude for contributing to this project and for giving me the opportunity to renew my classroom library with books on genres that my students actually enjoy reading about. With these new books I hope to fulfill one of my goals which is to help my Bilingual 5th grade students to be independent readers and at the same time for them to develop a joy and a passion towards reading.

Once again, thank you so much for your donations, it will definitely make an impact in my students education and in their reading development. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barran

My students are 4th/5th graders who are mostly below grade level, either because they had an interrupted education or because of a language barrier. They attend a public school that is located in the South Bronx; a neighborhood that is considered to be predominantly a poor neighborhood and their parents have very little resources. This carpet will help give them the organized, bright, and inviting classroom they deserve. I will use this carpet to help them have clear systems and structures which will increase instructional time, independence and autonomy over their own learning.
