Word Builder Wonders
Funded Mar 31, 2020Thank you so much for adding joy to our classroom. It was so encouraging to see the package sitting in the classroom waiting to be opened this fall. The letter tiles can not wait to be used by real students. In the meantime our "reading buddies" are using with the tiles while they wait for students to return. Currently our class is all online, but we are so so excited to get to use the letter tiles during our word work lessons and all our small group work together. My students saw the pictures of the letter tiles and really enjoyed seeing something to look forward to when we do go back to in person learning. Thank you so much for supporting our class!”

Funded Dec 19, 2018Our class loved the new additions to our class. The building supplies add to our creativity in the mornings and the Power Pens give us a new and fun activity during reading. They knew what the Power Pens were from math and were so excited to use them for reading. For many students it helps them take a small break from their reading and work on a different kind of reading with immediate feedback. When we arrive in the morning we have free choice time. It helps us create as well as work and interact with our peers. The new building supplies add more ways to be creative and learn from our friends in the mornings. Thank you so much for investing in our classroom. It is so appreciated!”

Rocking and Learning
Funded Aug 17, 2018We are loving our new stools! Thank you so much. We use them at our small group table where we come to do math and reading everyday. I love that it allows stops the option to move while being in their group, but not disrupt the learning or the people around them. The students were so excited and curious when the box arrived and loved the interesting new stools that we now have. Students are also able to move safely as the stools don't tip easily and create a safe place for students to work. Thank you so much for the movement breaks you have added to our classroom!”

Soft Start to the Day With STEM!
Funded Sep 12, 2018My students were so excited to see all the new choices they had for arrival. They are all engaged and working together in the morning and love creating and building new things. Each morning they come to school and unpack then choose from the new STEM materials you added to our classroom. Everyone is able to participate and interact with materials which reduces anxiety and stress they may experience throughout the day as the academic content becomes more advanced for some of them. The materials also allow them be play and be imaginative and that also is something they may not have a lot of experience with. I look forward to adding more materials to our morning choices, a continuation of the STEM items and adding in some art.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018My students are loving their new resources. They use the reclining seats multiple times throughout the day. The new math tools are really helpful for self-checking their math work, in an engaging way. The chairs are easy to move around the room and make working on school tasks more comfortable around the classroom.
The chairs came in large thin boxes and students were not sure what they were. They were amazed at the seats that were inside. Watching them get a chair, recline it, and read is one of my favorite parts of each day. The Power Pens and math cards are a new class favorite. The pens light up when student gets correct answer (they make noise too, but we keep that feature to a minimum:-). We love the quick feedback and extra fun practice of our math fluency.
Thank you so much for helping our class find new ways to stay engaged in learning and being comfortable learning in all parts of the classroom.”

Funded Jan 26, 2018My class is using the new rocking chairs and book rack to make learning more enjoyable. Students use the chairs all over the room to allow them to move while they are working on a variety of projects. We have quite a few stools in our classroom, but the chairs give a little more support for those students who need more support from the seat they choose to sit in. The book rack freed up space so we could find new homes for the stacks of books students keep donating and sharing with the class.
My class LOVED the arrival of the three large boxes. It was like unwrapping presents. They knew the project had been funded and would ask regularly when it was going to be delivered. They couldn't wait to decide who would use the chairs first and how we could arrange all the new room we had for books in our classroom library.
Our next project focuses on non-fiction books. We are looking at new ways to organize the books so they are easier to access and more visible, so they get more use. We are also using non-fiction books to find and use text features; as well as using the text for evidence to back up our thinking. Thank you so much for being a part of our classroom!”

Funded Aug 23, 2014Thank you so much for your donations. Here are some things my students had to say about the stools-
"I love the stools. Chairs are boring."
"The stools give me energy and help me focus."
"I like to sit on the stools while I read and move around."
"Thank you for the stools. They help me think."
"The stools make my day!"
"The stools are fun to wobble on and they help me concentrate."
"The stools help us to our work better."
"The stools are comfortable, and when I feel jumpy in my seat I can wobble."
"The stools help us not crowd people."
We use the the stools during every part of our day and it is amazing how much longer students can focus on their task at hand rather than how much they want to move! Which directly affects how much they learn and they can listen and focus longer than on the hard ground or a regular chair.
Thanks bunches!”

Funded Nov 10, 2013Thank you so much for helping our class get a carpet. We love it!
We rolled it out and the class couldn't wait to try it out. They grabbed their book bags and enjoyed some reading time on the new carpet. We love that it gives us some clear boundaries. We can know exactly where to sit. We learn better together as a group and some of us think it is our favorite place to read.
Every morning we start our day together in a circle. The carpet has been so helpful in making sure everyone is included in our morning gathering. Students know where they are expected to be and enjoy the structure the carpet provides.
Again, thank you so much for helping make our class a successful place to learn!”
