On the Write Track
Funded Sep 3, 2021I first and foremost would like to thank you for your generosity to my students and class. The paddle white boards have been a great to show me what the students are learning. I use the paddle boards during readers workshop and Math Workshop. My students enjoy how quick and easy they can show me the answer. I whiteboard markers and erasers have been a blessing because my students go through markers so quickly. They can easily grab them and bring them to the carpet or even keep at their desk. I can't thank you enough for our whiteboards and clipboards we use during our directed drawing and Writers Workshop. Student enjoy getting a clipboard and just sitting anywhere in the classroom to write and draw during free choice. Your generous donations have brought the fun of writing back to my classroom. It's extremely important especially since this is the first time my students have been in a classroom. Thank you for always supporting students love for writing and learning especially at a young age.”

Funded Aug 10, 2020It's different way of learning for my young students who are doing everything via zoom. I am excited that my project got funded thanks to your generosity. The students received the whiteboards to take home with them on the 3 week of our distance learning. They are being used to write letters, draw picture, show me their thinking with writing sentences and words. We are also using the whiteboards for Math to write our numbers, make patterns and draw shapes. These are an essential tool for my on line learning. The boards allow the student to print big and visible to everyone in the classroom. I am using the big poster paper to write and greet students during our Morning Message. During our shared writing the poster paper is big enough for students to see. My students were so excited when they heard they had their own whiteboard like their teacher and parents loved that they didn't have to purchase paper for them to write with. I know overtime the whiteboards are going to need to be replaced but the students are so excited for now that they can be the teacher to their parents when they are using the whiteboards during zoom. Without the amazing support and your donation you have given my students a love for learning. Thank you again.”

Funded Aug 13, 2019I wanted to Thank you for the Kitchen, Tool bench, play food, dinosaur figures and dishes. The kitchen is small and fits perfectly in my room. Kids are learning how important it is to be patient and take turns being the cooks and customers. The plates that were donated to me allow the students to learn how to set the table. This skill is important because they can use this at home when they are with their families. The variety of food that was donated is made out of wood. This is perfect because students are able to build a sandwich , pizza, and learn to begin to categories Food Groups. Student enjoy the kitchen and are excited about cooking for their friends. We will later use the tools during our Writers Workshop "How to Unit".I also received tools bench in which we are learning to screw, hammer and build with bolts and nuts. Everyone enjoys area in the classroom because they are using their hand eye coordination to turn, the bolts onto the table. It's great listening to the vocabulary that the children are learning and making the connection with tools at home. Our puzzles and dinosaurs are the favorite because they go with our unit about Dinosaurs.Students are building vocabulary and learning to socialize through play and you see their excitement daily.”

Funded Feb 3, 2012I would like to extend my gratitude for funding the much needed laptop computer for my kindergarten classroom. Because of your generosity I was able to show my students video clips from You-Tube relating to theme and concepts we have been learning about. Having the laptop has allowed my student to view videos such as Brainpop Jr. that was purchased for our school. Brainpop has video clips on literature, math, reading and science. Using the laptop computer, my students were able to access starfall.com and play educational games on the laptop. Our new reading program is embedded with technology and the use of the laptop has allowed me to project stories through my Elmo. I thank you for your support and generosity. ”

Funded Jan 27, 2012I am grateful to all of you have donated towards my Rhythm and Movement project. It was the first time that I have ever used Donors Choose and will strongly recommend it to my fellow colleagues. I've been teaching for the last ten year and now how difficult it can be to get material for our classroom due to the recent budget cuts and the economy. My students were excited to hear that we will be receiving a new listening center. Recently my personal listening center broke and my student have be unable to listen to audio stories I have for them. A listening center is an important part of my readers workshop. With your donations my reading program will be functioning more efficiently. Physical education is such an important part of our school day, but without age-appropriate material it can be challenging to teach at times. With the toss and throw, jump and hop and movement activity kit, my students will get to have fun with movement. Kindergarten is the foundation where children learn to read and write. I am a firm believer in physical activity and am eager to use these products with other kindergarten teachers. My children will also have the opportunity to use these materials during recess. Sometimes kindergartens get easily bored with certain games and need a variety of material.
Once again I would like all those who participated in my project. Special recognition goes out to the Wasserman Foundation for there generous donation and partnership with our school district. ”
