  • Calming Canopy!

    Funded Jan 3, 2023

Thank you for the amazing donation to our classroom. Your donation has made a tremendous impact on my students social-emotional development. My students needed a nurturing environment with a positive outlet to help them manage and regulate their emotions without judgement.

My students were very excited to learn about the wonderful upgrade to our Calming Corner. The Canopy has provided my students with a sense of privacy. The beanbag and soft pillows have allowed my students to distress and relax. They have enjoyed the books, sensory balls, and Tilt & Turn Liquid Sensory Windows. I have added posters, crayons, stuffed animals and other distressing activities to the Calming Corner to help them regulate their emotions.

I will continue to encourage students to use the Calming Canopy as I have observed students self-regulate their behaviors. My students are more aware of their own emotions and understand that the Calming Canopy is a safe place to take a break.

Thank you so much for acknowledging and believing in the importance of mental health for our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mendez

  • Got School Supplies?

    Funded Apr 21, 2022

My students are using the materials donated as their tools for learning. The materials are kept at their tables in individual small caddies. Students no longer have to share materials as everyone has their own. Students use the pencils for writing in their journals and are able to exchange their unsharpened pencil as many times as needed. Their color pencils, markers, and crayons give students options when coloring or drawing. Those student needing pencil grips or loop scissors have access to one.

My students were super excited to see the large boxes from Lakeshore arrive to our classroom. They cheered as I opened the boxes and took out all the materials donated. Student were so happy to know they would each receive their own supplies without having to share with their peers.

My students work habits have improved as a result of this donation of materials. Students now stay on task longer and produce quality work. They are motivated to do their assignments because they love using their new materials.

Thank you so much for your donation. Your donation brought smiles to my students faces. Students will take their materials home at the end of the school year as they need to be equipped with the basic school supplies at home to continue learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mendez

  • Help Kindergarten Students Learn to Read

    Funded Mar 15, 2012

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The reading games that you donated have helped my English Language students learn to read. We used these games to learn letter names, sounds, blending, and word families.

The reading games were used in my classroom on a daily basis. These hands-on games helped my low achieving students learn letter names and sounds. These games also challenged my high achieving students with opportunities to learn to blend as well as write words. These fun-filled reading games have helped every child in my classroom.

Without your help, my students would not of been so enthusiastic about learning to read. The games you donated will continue to help many more children in the future. Again, thank you for giving children the opportunity to enhance their reading skills.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mendez

I work in a Title 1 school. I have 24 English language learners and 2 Special Education students that mainstream into my class daily. My students come to kindergarten lacking the necessary skills needed to succeed in reading. My students need exciting and engaging ways to learn about letters, sounds, and blending. With the current budget cuts, my school is unable to purchase games that will help achieve success in reading. My students need a hands-on approach for learning how to read.
