Rocking Readers
Funded Mar 22, 2014My first graders and I were extremely excited to receive the materials which through your kindness, we were able to receive and use! My students made statements such as; "Wow, this is cool!" "I am going to love using this in class!" and " School is so much fun!" These are just a few of statements I heard as I opened the package in front of my eager first graders.
I have the Phonics Resource center ready for use in a center, but not limited to reading center time. I also have it available during "Fun Friday, Free time." It is a favorite of my past students from last year and my current first grade class this year! The program allows more practice of phonics, which is a critical element of reading. It is a center that is used daily and my students look forward to learning from this program.
The project boosted my teaching through providing another valuable resource to aide in my students' learning. My students remain enthusiastic about learning and attentive to school, which allows them to learn at their fullest potential, even though many of students have stressors at home. This allows them to have a sanctuary at school. Again, many thanks from my past students, current students, future students, and myself.”

Loving Literature through Fairy Tales
Funded Jan 31, 2012It is with my deepest gratitude for your donations to fund my project; "Loving Literature Through Fairy Tales." My students have had the opportunity to listen and respond to several of the titles in the fairy tales package. These books have inspired my kindergarten students to write about their favorite characters in the various fairy tales. In these times of severe budget cuts, this token of your kindness is greatly appreciated and will be in future students to come.
Fairy tales are a motivating topic among kindergarten children, as well as other primary grades. This assists in paving the way to unlock their love for literature and thus intrigue their desire to read.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Reyes
This classroom project was brought to life by Wasserman Foundation and 9 other donors.Readers are Leaders
Funded Oct 18, 2013I am writing to express my gratitude for your generosity in funding my project "Readers are Leaders." My students were very excited to receive the books on CD. The books on CD made their favorite stories "come alive!" My first graders were thrilled as these books were introduced as a center during language arts small group time. It is also a favorite during free choice time as well.
With this wonderful resource my students continue to grow as readers. They are eager to read, thus improving decoding skills and reading comprehension skills. My students are on the path to be college bound life long learners!!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Reyes
