The children I work with love to create. Given the right motivation they love to write stories, draw pictures and diagrams. They also love to create projects and presentations on the computer. Their motivation soon diminishes when their projects are not what they expect them to be. Vivid colors on a computer screen are not the same as gray scale products they often receive. This same problem applies to lesson material that is presented to them. As citizens in a poverty stricken urban school, my students do not have the same opportunities as other students to travel and see learning come to life. As a result of this, I often have to bring the world in the form of images to them. Black and white pictures do not do justice to the beauty that is around them.
