Technology for All
Funded May 7, 2017We are overwhelmed by your generosity. My students are watching as I type this thank-you note. They were all smiles this morning, as I told them the good news about the Chromebooks. Just now, one of my students said: "I can finally get information about my author for my reading group." The children are reading the works of various authors, including Shakespeare. They so much want to research and learn more about him. When I told them that they'd be able to visit and explore the Globe Theatre in London, you should have seen their faces! Priceless.
You are all our guardian angels...you came to our rescue when we most needed you. Thank you again for your generosity.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Google.org and 7 other donors.Little Fingers Compute in More Ways Than One!
Funded Dec 2, 2009We are so very thankful for your gift to us. The children use the laptops almost everyday, in one way or another. If they are not in groups gathering information from a science, math or social studies website - for one project or another - they are visiting various other websites to help improve their reading and writing skills.
I don't want you to get the impression that the computers are taking the place of regular instruction - they are not. However, what a time saver when it comes to explaining a concept to the entire class, now that I can connect one of the laptops to my SMART Board.
The excitement in my classroom is palpable! Student participation has improved tremendously. My kids are learning and having fun. Isn't that what elementary education should be all about? I say yes. My kids say yes, as they begin to realize they live in a world where knowledge of technology is no longer a luxury, but an absolute necessity. Again, we thank you!”

Language Arts: Let's Debate, Compromise and Agree!
Funded Nov 23, 2009Words are not enough to express the joy, happiness, enthusiasm and excitement that takes over our classroom when my kids are engaged and learning. The games you so generously donated are assisting them in their quest for excellence in language arts (speaking, listening, reading, writing).
Each Monday and Friday, the children work diligently to complete classroom assignments because they know that they will have "game" time for most of the afternoon. I watch as they eagerly read and reacquaint themselves with the rules of each game. I've notice how they work together and don't argue anymore about who will go first! This "working together" attitude has spilled over into other group activities. Children (especially the young men) that once appeared too proud or slightly intimidated in group situations, are now participating in activities they once thought foolish, embarrassing or a waste of time.
Again, thank you for helping me to build classroom spirit and a sense of community! ”

Drop Everything and Read - It's Habit Forming!
Funded Sep 10, 2008Please know that my kids will be so very happy and excited tomorrow when I tell them this great news! I can't thank you enough. I read both of these books (during a literacy workshop) more than 10 years ago when I was getting my degree in education. Happily and without embarrassment, I can truly say that these books have become two of my very favorites. I believe they will become favorites of my kids also. Again, thank you so very much!”

Reading Romeo & Juliet Brings Comic Relief to Third Grade
Funded Mar 17, 2008I am in shock and so very, very thankful! This quick response to my proposal is amazing! My kids don't know about the books yet, and I won't tell them until they have their very own books in their very own "little" hands. Words are definitely not enough, but I'll say it again...thank you, thank you, thank you, for bringing joy to my kids. I can't wait to see their faces! What this gift will do for my kids is my joy. I know that they will read these books over and over again...share them with their families and their friends! It's Sunday night, I'm preparing my lessons for tomorrow...with tears of joy just rolling down my face!”

Math Matters...More Than You Know!
Funded Sep 1, 2006Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! As I just yesterday set up our classroom mathematics center, I imagined having in place the mathematics center items you've so graciously agreed to donate. On Tuesday, September 5th, my kids will return and I am thrilled to be able to share this wonderful new with them. They will be overjoyed, as am I. Of course, as we are a "community", my kids will have a say (with my supervision) in how best to set up our multi-tasking math center. Again, thank you for your very generous gift.

Cultivate Readers and Watch Life-Long Learners Evolve!
Funded May 28, 2004Thank you so very much for your kind and generous donation to our class. Finally, "technology" I can use that the children can relate to! This teaching tool will allow me to reach so many of my children who are visual learners. In anticipation, I've already begun stocking my classroom with subject related videos in literature, science and mathematics. The children are also extremely excited and thankful as well. They've even started a list we call "wonderings", which we connect to a subject-related theme and video. Again, thank you”

Reading is FUNdamental
Funded Jan 2, 2004Thank you for this tremendous gift on this the first day of the New Year! I couldn't believe my eyes, as I quickly started deleting all of the "junk" mail I receive on a regular basis! I can't wait to get back to the classroom to let my kids know the good news. We've been working at a disadvantage this year...new literacy program, limited resources, etc. This gift will certainly raise spirits and enthusiasm in our classroom! Happy New Year and thank you, again, so much for this unexpected surprise! Joan ”
