Reading Fluently Has An Unlimited Shelf Life
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation of the wooden bookshelf and the blue metal book organizer. I have organized the reading books by phonic skills. With the beautiful rolling book shelves, I was able to clearly label all the skills so they are easy to sort and store. My students are able to find books that they are interested in reading, according to the phonic skill they are studying and practicing. This allows them to be independent and build confidence.
When my students first came into my lab this school year, they all yelled out questions about the new bookshelves. For example: "Wow, where did you get that Ms. Klein?', "Ohh I like these, did you organize our books?". " Ooo can we use this?" etc. It warmed my heart to see them so excited.
I will continue to store the books in this fashion as well as allow the kids to use the bookshelves. This builds ownership and enthusiasm for their reading materials.
Thank you so much!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.Keep The Magic Of Phonics Alive!
Funded Apr 24, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation to my reading lab. First, I apologize this thank you package is late. Because I run a reading lab that services students that are reading below proficiency, I must wait for all their reading assessment data to be collected. I then analyze the data and set a schedule for them to attend sessions weekly. This is a timely process. Once my lab opened, I was so excited for my students to use all the new phonics games you donated. In the lab, my assistant and I run small group instruction with lessons of foundational reading skills. After each skill is exposed to the students, we open the games and allow the students to explore practicing these new skills through these activities.
The students were so excited when first seeing the games. They loved all the little individual bags of letters that they could build words with. They loved all the bright colors and textured cards to help them blend sounds. Each day they ask me to play them.
My school has just started our Literacy Academy. We mix students in a grade level and group them according to their reading goals. I service the most intensive students. I am excited to use these games to motivate my students to be interested in improving their reading. My students will play these games every day after their lessons. Thank you so much.”
