We are located a few miles from Downtown Los Angeles. This is a working class community. Ninety percent of my students are ESL. This means that English is their second language. In addition, I have about 12% of my students receiving special education services. Due to this class dynamic, the academic language found in their science textbook can be very challenging. This is why having hands on resources will be very helpful. I teach about 75 students, unfortunately, I cannot afford to buy materials for all of my students.
