  • Modern Tech for Modern Times

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

Words cannot express the gratitude that our class has for receiving such a powerful and limitless piece of learning technology.

With this new Mac, we can help post important messages and pictures on our school website. We have even used it to edit short book previews and reviews of classroom novels like Wonder and Tuck Everlasting. We are now venturing into starting a podcast which is a new and very exciting endeavor.

Once again, without kind and generous donors, we could not learn and be exposed to such modern and very necessary skills needed for this generation. From the bottom of our hearts thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woo

  • Love to Learn

    Funded Dec 11, 2023

I can't thank you enough for your generous donation to our classroom. The materials that you provided have helped to both simplify as well as enrich my student's education experience this year. For example, students often sit on the floor for small groups for quick instruction or review, and the colorful clipboards you provided are really useful and fun for the kids to use.

Also, the art supplies you provided have inspired my students to express themselves and to demonstrate their artistic creativity. Without your donation, the students would not have had this outlet to express themselves. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woo

  • Financial Literacy Through Money Learning Games

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

We can't thank you enough for your generous donations to our class. With the new materials, my students are closer to meeting grade level standards in math, specifically with real world problem solving involving money. While playing the financial literacy games that you have provided, my students are all the more confident to attempt and solve math problems that involve decimals: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

The students really look forward to using the new math materials during their independent work time. Thank you once again for helping to improve and build my student's financial literacy skills.”

  • Painting and Art Appreciation

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Words cannot express my gratitude for your support of our classroom. With your generous donation, we were able to use the art canvases and acrylic paints to create wonderful art.

The students had a blast painting and we were able to use the easels to display our artwork for a gallery walkthrough. I believe the students had a rare opportunity to see themselves as artists. The most valuable takeaway was they had a lot of pride displaying their work and really enjoyed the art process. They fielded questions from their classmates about their inspiration for their work and it really helped them to realize how fun art can be.”

  • Calming Area

    Funded Jan 5, 2023

The materials you provided for my class are being used daily. I use the calming strategies from "Breath Like a Bear" at different points in the day as a brain break and to help students destress, refocus, and remember they are valued members of the classroom. A specifically fun and funny moment was when I read aloud one of the activities from a section titled "Heart Garden: Plant Seeds of Happiness" that asked students to think of something that makes them smile such as a butterfly, rainbow, or watermelon. They were to repeat the word to themselves, and as students were doing this, many of them were smiling, and soon many were laughing and enjoying themselves because they were thinking of silly things like caterpillars and Minecraft. Soon the whole class was laughing out loud and having a really great time! And to think, it was sparked by such a simple mindful activity!

Most of the materials purchased were for the students to use on their own in a designated "Calming Area" which became the side corner of the classroom. When the students saw the new center, they were all wide-eyed and curious. After I explained how they are invited to visit this area any time their emotions are high or they just need a space away from the group to calm down, they were all so excited and so very thankful, and I could tell they felt validated and heard.

The next steps for my students is to feel free to talk more openly with each other about their feelings and to also learn how to listen to others respectfully and lovingly. I am excited for the rest of the year, to watch my students not only grow academically, but to become mindful of theirs and others' emotions and feelings!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woo

  • Climbing to Fitness!

    Funded Jan 23, 2020

Thank you for providing these materials for my class! My students are very athletic this year, and having these agility ladders to support my physical education program is really going to get them excited! We will be learning coordination and fancy footwork that we can even incorporate into certain dances we are learning! Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness and for all your support in education! I truly appreciate you!”

  • Help Make Their Future Bright!

    Funded Oct 17, 2018

Thank you for providing my students the opportunity to participate in whole group lessons from the core curriculum's of reading and math, as well as very individualized and specific instructions in small group settings using our new Empson projector.

The new projector provides a very clear and vivid image for students to view the curriculum materials presented by me. However, my students are most ecstatic at the fact that they are able to share their work, which is often written in pencil and other older projectors may not have the ability to detect it, now with such great clarity and detail over a high-end projector.

Much of my instruction now allows for greater communication among the students regarding the work they are displaying on the projector. Their conversations about whether they agree or disagree, or if they have learned a new strategy from a classmate's work have increased, and all my students are so eager to project their work to provide evidence or spark more ideas and discussions.

I believe students learn best when they are in charge of their education. The new projector you have provided for the students in my class gives them a powerful tool for taking ownership for their own learning. Thank you so much, Donors!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woo

  • 21st Century Classroom

    Funded Oct 21, 2015

With your generous donation you have opened a door to a whole new world for my class by giving them the necessary tools they need to succeed in school and in life.

With our new Mac laptop, we are word processing our essays, making power point slideshow presentations for research projects, reinforcing common core standards by using online games such as frontrowed.com, newsela.com, playing interactive quiz show games like kahoot.com. Taking reading comprehension tests on Accelerated Reader. We are storing essays and slideshow presentations on our new flash drive, and are archiving our work on our new portable hard drive.

The obvious difference is that all of my students feel compelled to complete assignments so that they can store their work on the flash drive and later archive it in the hard drive. Every student in the class is constantly fighting to use the Mac for either research, online review, or for taking a reading comprehension test. Enthusiasm has gone way up and learning is fun for them again. It almost feels like they are back in Kindergarten again, when everyday was an exciting new adventure.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woo

  • Extreme Technology Makeover

    Funded Oct 24, 2014

On behalf of my class, I want to say, "Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!" You have no idea how much your generous donation has impacted my students in such an amazingly positive way. They can't stop asking me when it's their turn on the computer or can I research that for you? I have never seen such enthusiasm for learning take place before. With our new computers, the students can type up essays that they have drafted, take reading comprehension tests online, and play or review math and reading learning games. Once again, thanks for coming through where our school was unable to fill the educational void in our classroom. Thanks again for your support in our class project and for investing in our future!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woo

There are many reasons why I believe that an interactive tablet is desperately needed in my classroom. First, the students crave technology; they use it every day, and are more tech-savvy than most adults. Secondly, my students learn best when they have an opportunity to see and visualize what they are learning about, and a tablet will do just that! Third, having an interactive tablet will make learning real and relevant for my students.
