I serve students in a low socioeconomic area. My school is a Title 1 school where 100% of the students qualify for free lunch. Most of my students don't have access to a computer at home or school. The computer lab at our school only serves first through fifth grades. I want to motivate my students and get them excited about learning with the help of some up to date technology. Our fairly newly adopted Mathematics and Language Arts programs have technology components that would be very beneficial to my second language learners and students who are mainly visual learners if we only had up to date technology that can support these crucial resources. How can I use the different technology components of our math and reading programs if I don't have a computer that is up to date with speed and compatible with these programs? Many times I want to show my students an image or a video clip that can enhance their learning of the subject matter but I'm held back due to our limited technology.
