In California as with the rest of the Nation, students must achieve proficient in content standards. Students in my school, 80% minority and 65% have reduced or free meal tickets, need help. Any help that we can give students to achieve is worth the effort. I have wonderful students who dream big and want to achieve their goals. I want to give them a 21st century class. The more kinesthetic and visual a lesson is, the higher the learning results. The school has invested in the students through new paint, solar panels, new gymnasium, better lighting on the football field etc... But in the classroom we are lacking. Students are asked to complete several school wide assignments a week and they are delivered to the class via the TV. I want to update the inside of the class to help students Learn. They need "a way up and a helping hand, not a hand out!" As my students tell me. They are great kids and deserve the best we can offer. We Can Do More!
