  • A Reading Oasis in Our Very Own Classroom!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

We want to thank each and everyone of you from the very bottom of our hearts. Due to your kind and generous donations our class has their very own reading oasis. Since receiving the carpet and bean bags I have noticed a huge uptick in students wanting to meet their Accelerated Reader reading goals.

Having a safe and welcoming area for reading challenges the students in our class to try higher level books. This in turn helps then to reach their reading goals and they begin to push themselves to read grade level books or beyond.

Another benefit of having a reading oasis, allows students who have finished their work to go and read a book and jump into a new adventure or travel into outer space! Reading is fundamental and helps students improve in all academic areas.

Once again with a gracious heart we thank you for all you have done for us!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Aslam

  • Using Technology to Become an Innovative Content Creator!

    Funded Mar 26, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our project! Thanks to you the students of room 44 were able to create and work on a project based learning assignment. The assignment required students to research California's four regions and create an online digital book using Book Creator. Without the Ipad (access to technology) you so generously provided, students would not have been able to access the websites they needed to complete the assignment. For this we are ever so grateful!

Each book was created by students finding important facts and details about each region. They then wrote about what they learned in their book and also added digital pictures, videos, and soundbites to their primary sources of evidence page. Lastly they created a hand made tissue paper project of California's regions and used the ipad to import the project into their Book Creator digital books. Thank you for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

  • Bringing student projects to life!

    Funded Oct 26, 2021

Thank you so much for providing our class with a brand new printer and ink cartridges. Due to your generosity, the students in our class have been able to print out and present steam projects such as our Boat Building Challenge, California Mission Reports, as well as Social Studies Poster Boards.

We will continue to use our new printer throughout the year to print out and display student centered and driven projects. It is vital that students are exposed to a print rich environment and have the opportunity to see their hard work displayed for all to view and cherish.

Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts. My students and I are so very blessed to have such wonderful donors as you be a part of their educational growth and journey!”

  • Bringing History To Life!

    Funded Dec 8, 2020

Thank you so much for the wonderful donations. My three hybrid and twenty-four online remote learning students absolutely love the novel, "By The Great Horn Spoon" which you so generously donated towards. I also used the teachers pay teachers gift cards to purchase an online interactive book study that we imported into Google Slides and worked on as we read along in the book. When students came to school to pick up their new novel, they were so excited to learn about the California Gold Rush through a historical fiction book. As an added bonus I told them about the digital interactive slides we would be working on and they were even more enthusiastic to get started. Thank you so much again for your kind and generous donation, it's donors like you that make a real difference in the lives of our youth by giving them access to the materials thy so desperately need, especially in the middle of a pandemic! Thanks again and bless you!”

  • Bringing Education To Life!

    Funded Oct 30, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness! The students in our class have been using the MacBook you so generously donated to us for the past few months to work on both programming and robotic projects. The first project they completed was to use science and technology to create a functioning robot that would help visitors to our classroom understand the Earth's Rock Cycle. Working in collaborative groups students students used the STEAM Design Challenge to build a physical model of their robot in our Maker Space Lab. Next, they used the same STEAM Design process and the MacBook to code instructions via Scratch Coding for the Robot to follow.

Once the coding was complete students used a Makey-Makey controller to connect their Robot to the MacBook. Wires from the Makey-Makey run from the laptop, to the controller, and end up connected to metal buttons on the Robot. When an individual touches the different buttons on the Robot it will describe one of the different steps in the Rock Cycle process. Each group of students was able to create their very own Robot & share it with the class. Our hope was to share our projects with parents during Open House, however we all had to go out on quarantine due to the COVID-19 crises.

Students were also able to use the MacBook to start learning how to code Edison Robots aka EDbots. Before COVID-19, our next step was to create and edit videos using the MacBook to share these STEAM Projects with families via educational sites like Flipgrid and Seesaw. Finally, I would like to thank all our donors for giving my students an opportunity to use technology in combination with STEAM Designs to learn how to be creative and innovative when it comes to their learning. Without you, none of this higher level thinking and learning would have been possible. From my students and I, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! You Rock!!!”

  • Equity & Access to STEM

    Funded Nov 9, 2017

Thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts. The students of room 44 have become enthusiastic coders and love using the iPads you so generously helped us acquire to code instructions for our Coder Mip and Coji Robots. Each Tuesday and Thursday are our designated Technology days and we efficiently use the time to practice not only coding Robots, but visiting sites such as code.org and scratch.mit.edu The iPads you donated allow students to practice visual programming languages which have inspired them to become computational thinkers and use problem solving skills to attack real world problems.

The most exciting part about having technology in the classroom is seeing how my female students have latched on to the idea that they can be programmers to. They have shown a high propensity to want to solve problems which require higher level thinking skills. This fosters an idea of equality and diversity among my students. Both boys and girls are assigned to work with each other to figure out how to code the Robots to perform multi-step directions. Another exciting part about having iPads is the fact that using technology in the class fosters a Growth Mindset which teaches student that technology will continue to foster the use of new ideas and techniques, and that we as humans will be life long learners.

I'm also very thankful for the iPads due to the fact that they have allowed my shy and quiet students to feel empowered to express themselves through coding and visual presentations. Once I assign a new assignment or task requiring the use of iPads and Robots, everyone including my reserved students instantly light up knowing they will have an opportunity to use technology to showcase what they have learned. The students of room 44 and myself as their teacher again want to sincerely thank each and every one of you who have donated toward our project. Due to your generosity and kindness, my students will continue to foster a mindset that will prepare them for the jobs of the 21st century!”

  • Access to the Future!

    Funded Jan 31, 2012

    Dear Donors,

Once again, thank you so much for providing a brand new laptop for the students in my classroom. They were overjoyed when we received the brand new Sony Vaio! We only had one computer in our room to use between 30 students. The day it arrived and I opened it up, I could see the excitement in my students eyes. They kept urging me to un-box and set up the laptop asap! They are truly thankful and feel blessed due to your generosity.

Thanks to you, students are now lining up daily to take their Accelerated Reader reading comprehension tests online using the laptop. I have seen a huge increase in the number of students reading and taking online quizzes, because we have an additional access point to the internet. Not only are students taking reading comprehension quizzes, they are also researching for both their California Native American and Spanish Mission research projects. We will also be using the laptop to go online and watch educational videos via Pearson math online, and NBClearn. The sky is the limit with what we will accomplish with our new classroom technology.

My students are now showing an affinity toward learning because of the added technology to our classroom. I have seen students of mine who had no desire to read, start to read because they now have a tool which will allow them to self-asses. As well students who had little or no experience researching online have fallen in love with the research process. I myself am now able to show more educational videos, pictures, and slide-shows using our new laptop. Thank you all again for donating toward this wonderful cause. We could not have done it without your help and donors choose as well. Thanks again everyone involved, our class salutes you! :-)”

This year I have been blessed with 32 amazing students. Each of my students are passionate about learning and come to school enthusiastic with a zest for knowledge. Everyday I look forward to teaching them something new as well as learning from them. I try and tap into their potential on a daily basis, constantly reminding them that college is an expectation. Our school-site is a wonderful place to work and learn. From the parents, teachers, students, administration, and staff, everyone always has a positive attitude with a smile on their face. Being a Title 1 (low income) school means the majority of our students do not have the luxury of having a computer at home, let alone Internet access. It is my desire to acquire 3 iPads in order to provide my students access to the tools they need, which will teach them the skills needed for a lifetime of learning.
