Problem Solving with Wipebooks!
Funded Sep 9, 2021Thank you so much for your donation for the the Dry Erase Wipebooks! They have helped my student collaborate together to solve complex mathematical problems.
Students are eager and excited to work in groups, standing at the Wipebooks, rather than sitting down and working alone at their desks. They are much quicker at jotting their ideas down on the Wipebook charts than they would be in their notebooks, not afraid to make mistakes knowing that they can easily erase their work and make another attempt at the problem.
Because of your donation I have many Wipebooks hanging on the walls in my classroom allowing all students the chance to make their work visible for all to see. This leads to such amazing discussions about the many different methods my students use to solve problems.
Thank you once again.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Garofalo

Funded Feb 28, 2015Thank you so much for your donation to the "See you later, calculator" project. My students and I greatly appreciate having calculators that students can bring home from school to support them on their school work outside of school.
We use graphing calculators in class every day and they allow students to engage in higher level mathematics. However many of my students are unable to purchase calculators of their own and our school does not allow students to bring calculators home. The calculators you have provided are now part of a technology "library" that students can check out and take home to use whenever they want.
Since students have been taking calculators home I have not only had a better homework turn in rate but the quality of work I see on the assignments has really improved. Students are more confident and willing to do their homework when they bring a calculator home.
Thank you once again for your generosity and support.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Garofalo

We Can't Think Without Ink!
Funded May 14, 2013Thank you so much for the dry erase markers. My students were very happy when we opened the packages of brand new markers. No longer do they need to use faded markers when working with individual whiteboards.
We have been using the markers frequently throughout the year in my geometry class for various activities. My students get very excited to use these markers as a it is a change of pace from the usual pen/pencil and paper. The eagerly attack math problems on the white boards and their enthusiasm is great.
When using these markers I can instantly assess the understanding of my students on a certain topic and adapt the lesson or target certain students to make sure the whole class is moving forward.
Thank you again for you generosity.”

Give Them the Tools They Need to Succeed
Funded Feb 1, 2013Thank you for your generous donation to my Donors Choose project. The geotools you purchased for my students are going to greatly help my instruction of mathematics. My students were so excited to receive new tools to use everyday in class and at home.
I have always wanted to allow my students to take material home with them so they can continue their exploration of mathematical relationships on their own. My school has not allowed this in fear of not having material returned. Because of your donation each of my students can take home a geotool to use on their assignments.
I will be teaching geometry next year and I rely heavily on these tools in order for my students to obtain deeper conceptual understanding of geometrical relationships. I can't wait for them to take these tools home and discover amazing things on their own.
Thank you once again. It is so motivating to know that there are people who do not even know me are my students yet care so much about their education.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Garofalo
See You Later Calculator
Funded Aug 5, 2011I would like to extend my thanks to you all for your generous donations to "See you later, calculator." We use the calculators that you donated every day in class to explore mathematical relationships and enhance are problem-solving capabilities. Students who struggle with numbers are not help back in learning algebraic concepts.
Schools have been using the same old calculators in math class for the last 15 years. Although technology in our world has improved greatly in that time, the resources we've been using in the classroom haven't kept up. These new calculators really add a whole new dimension to the learning experience. My students are very excited to use these calculators in school and are great appreciate the fact that they can take them home to practice mathematics.
Thank you once again for helping my students keep pace with not only their peers, but with technological developments. ”

Mr. Garofalo
We Can't Think Without Ink!
Funded Dec 1, 2010Thank you for your generous donation to Donors Choose. Because of the white board markers you helped purchase, my students have been able to use individual white boards all semester long. We no longer have to worry about the markers running out of ink, knowing there are new ones to use.
These white boards have a great impact in my classroom. Students are more active and engaged in the topics I am teaching. My teaching is also greatly affected. I am provided with instant feedback on students' comprehension of the material we are learning.
My students are very thankful for the materials. They always ask to use the whiteboards. ”

Mr. Garofalo
See You Later Calculator
Funded Dec 4, 2010I want to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The calculators you have sent have allowed my students an opportunity to engage in higher level thinking when doing there homework. It is rare for my population of students to purchase their own graphing calculators and it is great that they can now reach their potential during independent work at home.
My students were very excited to learn that they could sign out calculators to bring home. I was also excited when some of them would bring the calculators back and show my new tricks that they figured out on their own. They are so much more engaged in their work with the use of technology.
Once again, thank you for you donation and for helping my students reach their goals.

Help Students Soar With Their Own White Boards
Funded Sep 19, 2009Thank you for your generous donation to Donors Choose. Because of you my students have been able to use individual white boards all semester long. These materials have a great impact in my classroom.
I design many of my lessons to incorporate students using white boards. I feel that they help keep students engaged and motivated. They also help provide me with instant feedback on the students' comprehension of the material we are learning.
My students are very thankful for the materials. They always ask if we can use the white boards. We do use them a lot. ”
