Our high school is in a low socio-economic area in Southern California, we have over 400 students homeless and more then half our students are on free or reduced lunch. My student leaders struggle with typical high school, teenager issues on top of financial struggles and broken family issues. A number of my leaders juggle work to help the family income, babysit their siblings while parents work, and all the while maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher, creating events for our student body and constantly attempting to change lives and impact futures on our campus, in their community and in our world.
Leadership students are a chosen group of 50 that represent a student body of close to 3000. They represent our school and work tirelessly before school, after school and during class time on school activities. These students are the spirit leaders on campus, manage the school funds, work in the student store, and are role models to other students at our school.
