"Silence Please, I Would Like to Concentrate!"
Funded May 21, 2020Thank you for being so supportive in providing access to my students' earbuds.
We use devices daily during differentiated time, testing, and other in-class activities. There are times when students need to focus on their individualized learning path and need the classroom to be as quiet as possible, yet with 25 students in one room it can be a challenge. Allowing students to use their earbuds ensures that even if there are concurring activities in the classroom, students can still focus on their tasks.
Once again your donation is much appreciated!”

Funded Aug 12, 2020The Covid-19 pandemic was rough on teachers. We worked tirelessly to support our students and families early in the day and sometimes throughout the evening as parents had questions regarding their child's engagement and learning tasks. It was additionally challenging for me as the educator whose at-home technology was outdated. My family was impacted financially as I had to pay additional fees so that my at-home internet bandwidth could support my husband's and my internet connection
I stayed online longer as I supported my colleagues who had technology questions and instructional concerns. They were long days online, yet thanks to your support I was able to connect and be able to conduct one-to-one formative reading and math assessments so that I knew where my students were at and what their needs were. In return, I was able to communicate with parents and provide at-home activities that their children could work on and continue to learn.
Thank you for allowing me to reach my students at home!”

Yes! To Student Supplies.
Funded Jan 11, 2020I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation. Luckily, student supplies arrived before this world pandemic occurred and we had to shut down the school. I was able to print homework packets for them to take home (at that time we only thought for 2 weeks). Little did I know that it would be the last time we would be together as a class. Students packed up their supplies; pencils and paper with the comfort that they would have something to write with and something to write on.
Now through distance learning, they are making the shift to online tech tools. Yet they still use their pencils for art assignments, math problem solving (step by step process), and of course part of the materials they use on engineering challenges.
Thank you so much for your donation.”

Funded Dec 24, 2018I would just like to thank you for your gracious donations. My students were so excited to see me open up the packages. They had fun while learning and didn't even realize it until we reconvened the next day on what they had accomplished. My students were able to problem solve, and work collaboratively as they were coding. These skills are vital if we want them to be 21st century ready. Your donation sparked up their interest for computer programming through robotics. It was a perfect connection to our readings and field trip to the Science and Engineering convention. I can not thank you enough, as you have helped bring equity to our inner city students!”

Funded Dec 18, 2018Thank you for your donations of classroom supplies. My students were very excited when they saw the box that arrived. They were very curious to see what the box contained and how they would use the contents.
When they saw the big color pencil box they screamed as now they would have a variety of colors to create Valentines Day cards, Mother's Day Cards, and thank you cards. This year my students are very artistically inclined. Their next project will integrate math as they will learn about symmetry and create mandalas.
Thank you for the notebooks in which they will write to prepare them for the end of the year state test. Of course they will store them in their brand new seat sacks and stay organized. My student are also very grateful for their pencils, scissors, and pencil sharpener.
Please continue supporting classrooms, as my students are grateful for your support.”

Funded Apr 1, 2016Thank you for your donation! My students were very excited when the boxes arrived even though they didn't know I had ordered soccer equipment. They were curious, wondering what was inside each box until one morning... I said "Boys and girls line up its P. E. time. Today we will have a soccer game." They all yelled, "Yeaaaa!!!" very loud but one of them asked, "Wait, with what equipment? How?"
It was then that I opened up the boxes and you could hear the hysteria, "I told you it was something special!" one student told the other. And so now I'm questioned almost every day, "Are we going out for soccer today?"
Thank you, because now even my most resistant student for physical activity, wants to play and be part of the excitement.”

Funded Sep 19, 2015Thank you for your donation to help bring instructional materials to my students hands. Fractions and percentages is a challenging math concept to understand and much more for students whose second language is English whom must also be able to verbally explain their thinking as our new common core standards require of them. These math manipulatives provided my students a visual and a tool as they collaborate in pairs they can solve their math problems. These tools allowed for the students to transfer their knowledge of fractions into percentages which they could see and refer back in both the bar and pie charts. Thank you once again for your donation.”

Funded Jan 27, 2012My students observed and learned about the different types of rocks that are found on earth. They were able to make connections not only to the reading but also to science and their environment. My students were able to describe, categorize, classify, write Thier findings. They were mini-scientist as they had to observe, take notes and report their findings to one another for clarification. Many of them didn't know there was such a diverse variety of rocks before this activity, but thanks to donorschoose and participants like yourself future classes will get to experience the same.”
