  • Creating a Classroom Environment That Feels Comfortable, and Warm

    Funded Feb 1, 2025

I wanted to take a moment to extend my deepest gratitude for your thoughtful support in creating a classroom environment that promotes comfort, focus, and peace of mind for our students. Your commitment to providing tools and resources that enhance their learning experience truly makes a difference.

The fidget tools, such as stress balls and fidget cubes, have proven to be invaluable in helping students channel nervous energy in a quiet and unobtrusive manner. This allows them to stay engaged and calm during lessons, contributing to a more productive learning atmosphere. Additionally, the aroma diffuser with soothing scents like lavender and eucalyptus has created a serene ambiance, which has had a positive impact on the students' ability to concentrate and feel at ease.

The introduction of soft background music or white noise has also been a game-changer, offering a subtle and calming presence that reduces distractions and supports focused work. Together, these efforts combine to foster a learning space where students can thrive both academically and emotionally.

Once again, thank you for your dedication to building such a warm, supportive, and peaceful environment for our students. Your generosity and attention to their needs make a world of difference in their educational journey.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Machado

  • Science and Math Everywhere

    Funded Nov 30, 2017

I want to thank GM for the HP laptop that was generously donated to my class. It will allow my students to expand their interest in science and math. Students are investigating alternative energy sources. Students are collecting data on energy consuming products found in a household and researching their energy consumption. Students gather all the data in our new laptop using excel. They are developing regression models that fit the data. These models will be used to analyze where we can improve in our energy consumption. My students are excited about the creation of energy consumption models. We are also researching other energy sources that can potentially be less damaging to our environment.

Students are excited that our new laptop has enough memory and processing speed to help our Science Project on Renewal Energy data collection. Having a new laptop that does not have maintenance issues because of over usage is a welcoming gift.

My low achieving students are showing more interest in class activities. They are fond of our new laptop. Laptops are nonexistent in our school classrooms. This donation is a benefit to all my 152 students. We want to thank GM again for the generous donation.”

  • STEAM Projects

    Funded Mar 20, 2017

Words cannot express my gratitude for the tools you have given my students. Too often students from underrepresented groups, such as mine, lack the necessary tools to improve their education. Your donation of a printer, ink and paper will support their learning of mathematical concepts and prepare them for the rigor of Algebra 1 - a subject widely known as a gatekeeper for higher education.

My students will be able to print STEAM reports that they can submit for extra credit, make-up work to count for any missing assignments, class notes to study for exams, and extra practice activities to raise their grade.

Some of my students also come to me during lunch recess for tutoring and having a printer and paper will facilitate their learning process. Once again, thank you.”

    Mr. Machado

  • Open House Projects Using Technology

    Funded Jan 31, 2017

The wireless capacities of the Microsoft Surface Pro has enabled my presentations to be more interactive.. I can walk to any team or student and ask them to share their input. Creating and developing our class webpage has been fun and many students login to our class website daily to use its resources. Our classroom web page has many Algebra 1 and 8th grade resources . Students can access tutorials and homework on the Internet.

The Surface Pro by Microsoft donation to our Algebra 1 class has motivated all my students into participating in our math activities, especially when going around the class using random reporter. The shy students feel comfortable sharing using the Surface Pro 4.

The most exciting part of our new technology is that has powerful programing software and its graphics are competitive compared to other competitors.”

  • Essentials Ink and Print

    Funded Mar 29, 2016

My students are making good use of all the supplies that were donated to our class. They are using the donated printer and ink supplies to create team goals. My students are in teams all year long and every seven days they create a new team goal. They can now type and print their goals for the seven day cycle and display them on the bulletin board. Teams that achieve their team goals are rewarded with lead pencils that were also part of the donations. My students demonstrate gratitude for the new fast printer as they no longer worry about how they will print their weekly team score sheets and the sheets help them see how much they are improving as a team. Team score keepers can now print as many extra assignment activities to help their team raise their team grade and, as a result, their individual grades.

The speed with which our project was funded caught my students by surprise. They were taken aback by the generosity of our donors. My students were so excited that some of them stayed after school to help me unpack our donated supplies. They insisted that I connect the printer to our classroom computer to see how fast our printer printed.

Our next technology-based project will be to create student electronic portfolios for open house. I would like students to use a scanner to scan exemplary work of their own to showcase to their parents during open house. They will save their portfolios on our classroom computer. Students and parents who attend open house will have the ability to see the portfolios and the option of printing them on our new fast printer.”

    Funded Jan 25, 2012

Thank you very much for your donations. My students are very happy that they have a laptop to do research and look up math websites . They enjoy correcting their Algebra work using a variety of online tools such as graphing calculators, equation solver calculators and other useful tools. They also access websites that allows them to practice their Algebra skills such as Mathway.com, MyAlgebra.com, Algebrahelp.com and many other exciting websites.

Without this donation my students are limited to one desktop computer . THANK YOU VERY MUCH.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Machado

My students attend a public school. Desktops are the norm. My students do not have access to new technology like tablets. My students are very dedicated and love to share and contribute to my Algebra lessons by using a smart board. They want to learn other ways of taking notes and contributing to my lessons.
