  • Calming Area for Our Room!

    Funded Apr 21, 2023

Thank you for the donations to create a calming area in my classroom. At the start of the school year I received the final shipment to make my order complete. The three bean bag chairs are a welcome addition to my classroom as is the adult coloring books, new colored pencils and headphones. As you will see in the photographs, I have a nice corner area that is conducive for these items.

My classes have been told that they are able to use that area if they are feeling overwhelmed and need some time to step away. The coloring books are especially a big hit, as many students use them when they have completed their work. It is nice to be able to offer this quiet space for my anxious students.

Again, thank you all for your generous donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Helfing

  • Grades Not Gangs!

    Funded Feb 2, 2012

Thank you very much for your generous donations to my project. Because of your actions, I was able to provide an IPOD to four different students, as an incentive gift for attending class and bringing their materials to each session, and most importantly completing their homework.

As a result of this project, I saw an increase in homework completion in all of my classes, with the hope of winning an IPOD. Students who did their assignment, were eager to get an entry into the drawing. As homework increased, so did the grade average!

I am please to announce, that the students who won the IPODS, were well-deserving and appreciative.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Helfing

My students are very respectful and kind. They come from families that are hard-working and often are not home to supervise homework. As a result, the students need to be self-motivated to get good grades. I would like to reward those who try hard to pass my class. I plan on awarding an IPOD to one student in each of my history classes. The award will be given to a student who has displayed tremendous resiliency in accomplishing assignments, despite their home life. Our school has a gang problem, and I would like to reward students who are doing the right thing.
