  • We Can See Clearly Now!

    Funded Aug 15, 2020

Thanks so much for your kind donations. This will really help me out with online teaching. It is so important that we try and give our students the best learning experience possible, especially in these unprecedented times. I truly appreciate you and your commitment to helping children. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferrandiz

  • You Can't Erase Our Learning!

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you so much for your kind donations! My students and I really appreciate the help that you have given to our class. Teaching and learning are going to look a lot different this year and donations such as yours will help to provide a more normal, richer learning experience.”

    With gratitude,

  • We Know the News!

    Funded Apr 17, 2018

Thank you so much for funding my project. As a child, I loved to read and especially loved when it was time to read our weekly 'newspapers.' I hope to pass on that same love and sense of excitement to my students. Generous people such as yourselves help to make extra exciting things like this possible in the classroom. Thank you very much!”

    Mrs. Ferrandiz

  • Wiggle While We Learn

    Funded Feb 6, 2017

Wow! Thank you so very much for contributing to our project! I can't tell you how much it means to know that there are people who care about and support public education.

The wobble chairs that you helped fund have been a godsend! Children who were having trouble saying in their seats and focusing are suddenly sitting and working nicely. Before we got these wobble chairs, students sitting incorrectly and falling out of their chairs was an almost daily occurrence. Since we received the chairs, no one has fallen at all.

Thank you. We really appreciate you.”

  • Printing Out of Thin Air

    Funded Dec 13, 2016

Thank you so much for your kind donation to our class. In an urban public school it is often difficult to get all the regular supplies that we need, much less any of the extras that make learning special. Donations such as yours really help to enhance our classroom and our educational program.

My class is really getting a lot of use out of our new, color printer. The students are enjoying printing colorful covers and pictures for their reports. We are able to use the iPad (and even some smart phones) to print from anywhere we are on campus. Not having to run to the main office or having to ask for permission to print in color has been wonderful. We thank you so much!”

  • Write On! 1st Grade Authors

    Funded Nov 15, 2016

I really can't express how much these resources have meant to me and to my class. So often as educators we are unable to provide our students with those extra resources that enhance teaching and learning. Sometimes, the resources that we need are not even extras. but essentials. In this case your donation actually met both of those needs.

In an elementary classroom, getting little kids to write can be a challenge. Not the least of the obstacles is the sheer volume of pencils that little kids go through. My students were so excited to receive the big box of multicolored pencils and a brand new sharpener. Everyone wanted a chance to be the pencil monitor so they could use the "really cool" sharpener. As silly as it sounds to an adult, the kids are now more excited about writing time because they get to use their new, special pencils and, for the final draft, the extra-special felt tip pens!

Our goal by the end of this school year is to improve our writing and 'publish' our own little stories. Your contribution has helped us to move toward that goal and we really appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferrandiz

  • From Record Player to iPad: Time to Go Digital

    Funded Jan 18, 2012

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for your kind donation. My children and I are so excited about the iPad and speaker system. In fact, the kids are teaching me how to do things with the iPad that I never could have imagined. Technology resources such as this excite the children and enhance their education. Kind donors such as yourselves help to make that enrichment a possibility. With looming budget cuts, it is wonderful to know that there are people who care about education and who will go out of their way to help children. Thank you very much!”

  • A Place to Sit, and Something to See

    Funded Jan 30, 2012

Thank you so much for your donation to help fund my classroom project. My kids are already enjoying their new classroom rug and look for any excuse to lay or sit on the rug to do their work or just to read quietly. I am so excited that the students have a new, clean area that gets them out of their seats and allows them to spread out and learn. It is because of generous people such as yourselves that we are able to provide our students with extra materials and resources. Though it may seem like a small thing, you have made a difference in these children's lives. I thank you for that.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferrandiz

  • From Old to New- Transferring Our Technology

    Funded Jan 16, 2012

Thank you so very much for contributing to my class project. So often as teachers we want to provide our students with the best and newest resources. Unfortunately, due to the realities of the economy and shrinking school budgets, we can't always do that. Kind people like you help to narrow that gap. My students are so excited by our new VCR/DVD player recorder. I've already started to transfer old videotapes to DVD and am able to show the kids educational films that I thought were too old and worn to ever use again. My present class as well as future classes will get great use out of this valuable resource. I thank you very much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferrandiz

My students are happy, inquisitive kids from a working class, city neighborhood. They attend a neighborhood school that has been serving the community for over 100 years. As with all kids their age, they are excited by and comfortable with technology. Unfortunately, neither their hard working parents, nor our cash strapped school can afford to provide the children with the latest resources.
