Start Learning With Art!
Funded Dec 2, 2020WOW is a just a simple word that best describes how these art donations have helped my students achieve writing and art. As we are distant learning, my TK and Kinder students have used their Blank Softcover books to draw and write their ideas on. Using these books makes my students feel like "WRITERS". They use these books for writing about Science such as Seasons and Weather. They used their blank books to draw and write about famous Americans in honor of Black History Month as well as important females around the world in honor of Women's History Month.
As they complete work in their other books, they use the stickers from the donation to show goals that are accomplished. This encourages them and motivates them to keep trying. They use the construction paper to make color themed high frequency word cards to practice at home. They have used the construction paper to express what they like to do with their families. We use the canvas bag to keep the supplies in order. We also use the bag to put items that are a surprise before we share in front of the zoom camera.
When I showed my students what they were receiving, they could not wait for school to open to go and pick up their goodies. Parents sent pictures and students made notes. They were so happy to start using these items. We are so grateful and appreciative of all your generous donations. I encourage you and everyone to take part in donating to a project. Students benefit so much from learning that someone donated to them and it makes them feel SPECIAL!”

Funded Nov 17, 2019Our kind Kindergartners and I would love to say thank you to all the donors that helped fund our project! Using the blocks has been a great center for our youngsters during math and during free time on Fridays. They construct with partners and really get excited once they accomplish a blueprint. The construction paper has brought out their creativity in writing, art and celebrations around the world. The vibrant colors enhance the arts and pictures that they create from Chinese lanterns, bus rides and rocket ships, our students love to use the bright construction paper you donated to them. The magnets have also helped my students make 3 and 4 letters words. They use them during small group time when we change out the beginning, middle or last letter. Being able to see how one letter can change a word has really been beneficial to all my students.
Our next step will be to make our own blueprints for others to solve. We will keep using the construction paper to promote art and writing. We will also use the magnets to make up nonsense words and extend from 3 -4 letter words to 5-6 letter words.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Duarte
Learn with Apple TV!
Funded Aug 10, 2019I want to thank all the donors that helped fund my first project. As an educator, I need to know and use technology in my class so I can teach my kindergarteners computer skills. Using the Apple TV that was donated, I can wirelessly project from my laptop to my white board which means I can be anywhere in my class. I have been able to project stories and songs from our curriculum in Language Arts.
Students are most excited when we use Apple TV for virtual field trips. Apple TV enhanced their knowledge about marine life, specifically sharks, by allowing my class to go on virtual field trips. This helps all the students in my class go where they have never gone before! English language learners also benefit from the virtual field trips because we have discussions together on what we see using our academic vocabulary. Students' interests sparked as they inquired about animal life in Africa!
Since this donation I can show digital citizenship lessons on how to be safe online. I am able to show step by step log in procedures so they can access their iPads. Students are especially fond of Coding, and I can easily demonstrate how to program. We are so excited to use Apple TV everyday in our kindergarten class!”
