Rhythm Makers and Shakers!
Funded Aug 15, 2022Thank you again for your generous contribution to our music program! Many, many students have loved using the percussion instruments since the day they arrived. They have been great for the littlest 3 and 4 year olds to not only play music, but to identify colors, fruits and vegetables!
The youngest students were so surprised that they were instruments and not actually food! They also intrigued even the older students, since they are so lifelike! The older students enjoy playing them too! We have used them with all kinds of music sing alongs, dances, marches and general music classes to have fun as well as learning to play with and keep the beat of the music. They are wonderful because they are perfect for all the students to be able to participate in a music making experience!
The younger students have especially enjoyed playing the bananas and dancing with with the song, "Banana Ooooh Na Na". We will continue to use the instruments all year as they are perfect for all the younger students to use! Thank you so very, very much!”

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Classroom Supporter.Keep Calm and Play the Ukulele!
Funded Nov 3, 2021The set of ukuleles we received from Donors Choose has truly been a life saver to my 7th & 8th grade classes this year. Due to Covid, I do not have my usual music classroom this year and have been holding music classes in our auditorium. Having the ukuleles was a God send as I have not had access to my usual teaching materials. The students were thrilled and excited to receive the beautiful ukuleles and to be able to each have one to play.
They have learned many basic chords, some finger picking and have found a lot of joy playing and singing along with songs on the overhead. I believe playing the ukuleles have fostered their spirits, provided a sense of purposeful togetherness as well as providing some much needed joy in their days. They are all continuing to expand their musical knowledge and playing skills.
We are working toward having a select group of 8th graders play the ukuleles and sing a song for their upcoming graduation, hopefully with the full class singing. We will also be working to write some of our own songs in the next few months. Thank you so much for this wonderful gift!”
With gratitude,
