Love in the Time of Covid
Funded Jan 28, 2021What a year it has been! Thank you for giving to this project. Unfortunately I never did receive the postage stamps. But as they say the show must go on. I purchased them out of my own pocket and was able to make the care packages and send them to my students.
When they received the special delivery in the mail they were very happy. Some students posted their picture onto our online learning platform to express their joy and gratitude. Although it was disappointing to not receive the postage stamps, the happiness on my students' faces made up for it. So thank you for your selfless giving and helping me to do the same.”

Creating Works of Art from the Heart
Funded Aug 10, 2020I can't tell you enough how thankful I am for your generous donations. It's been a little over a month already of the new school year with distance learning and the students are still so excited about their Art materials and supplies. One of them asked me recently "When are we going to use the watercolors?" I responded with "Soon, very soon."
Art is their most favorite time of the day. In the short time we've had together I can already see that many of them are becoming very talented in their drawings. Sometimes we don't finish a particular piece in one session but they are ready to show me their masterpieces the following morning.
Thank you again for giving them this outlet to express themselves.”

This classroom project was brought to life by A Generous Donor and 3 other donors. To Coding and Beyond!
Funded Aug 31, 2017You wouldn't believe the smiles seen on my students' faces when I told them that we would be coding in the classroom. Those smiles turned into excited glee when they actually started using the Ozobots. They were so amazed at how something so small could do so much. The wheels in their brains started turning trying to figure out how to get the Ozobot to move in a different way from what they already had seen.
It gets me excited as their teacher when I see how engaged they are in their learning. Thank you for invigorating our classroom through your generosity.”

Through Knowledge I Gain Power
Funded Apr 14, 2017Thank you for making it possible for my students to have chromebooks to use in the classroom. Nowadays students are more akin to using technology over paper and pencil. These chromebooks will help them in all areas of their learning. There are apps that they enjoy using to help them learn their Math facts. I have been emphasizing how important it is to know them with automaticity before they go to the next grade level.
In addition these chromebooks will help them in doing research on topics of interest. Many of them just completed a report on crickets after reading the story The Cricket in Times Square. Some of them may want to look into the topic further. It is so wonderful to have technology as a resource in the classroom. Thank you for making it a reality.”

Funded Nov 8, 2016Thank you so much for allowing my students to have P.E. equipment available to them. They have enjoyed tossing the footballs around and learning how to throw them correctly. One of them commented how she likes it because it doesn't hurt when she tries to catch it since the footballs are made of a soft material.
They are excited to be broken up into teams so that they can use the flags. Recently they were making a presentation for a Lunar Year assembly and practiced with the ribbons as it was a ribbon dance. It was so fun for them and lovely to see all the beautiful colors of the ribbons being waved around.
You truly have given them a lot to be thankful for.”

Rite, Right, Write
Funded Dec 31, 2015Thank you for your amazing generosity in helping my students become authors! My students were so excited when I showed them the blank books.Their eyes opened wide and their jaws dropped.
I could tell the wheels were spinning in their minds as they shared possible story ideas for their books. Some wanted to write about the miners since we've been studying the Gold Rush. Others shared they wanted to write about animals as we discussed food chains in Science. Our goal is to have the stories completed in time for the Arts Festival happening at the end of May.
None of this would have been possible without the support of wonderful people like you. On behalf of my students and I, "THANK YOU SO MUCH!"”

Owl Pellets and Clay, Oh My!
Funded Mar 11, 2015Sorry for the late thank you. I thought I had already sent one. But I can't tell you how much the students enjoyed doing the owl pellet investigation. Their eyes grew wide with amazement every single time they found a new bone from the owl pellet. They had a wonderful time matching the bone they found with the correct animal on the chart. It was a great time of working with their partners and discussing which bone they thought the animal came from.
We are so grateful for your generous support of the learning that goes on in the classroom. "Owl" say it again, thank you very much!!!”

Creating Critical Thinkers
Funded Jan 12, 2015Thank you so much for helping my classroom get a subscription of Scholastic News. The students thoroughly enjoy reading the articles. We have done a debate on whether children should have a television in their bedrooms. Some students already do have a TV in their bedrooms so they had a lot to share when asked for their viewpoints. Our next debate will be on the topic of whether junk food should be banned in schools.
Doing these debates have not only helped the students improve in their critical thinking skills but it also has improved their oral language and writing abilities. Thank you for doing your part in making this happen.”

Learning with Technology
Funded Sep 15, 2014It's amazing what technology can do! My students love using the new laptop and are all wanting to do more research as a result. We recently worked on a paper about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and it was so helpful to have the laptop for students to find more information about Dr. King and even just to type their final papers.
Thank you for being a part of making this happen. It is so inspiring to have the support of others in education and it is really key in getting resources like these in the classroom. My students and I want to say thank you for this wonderful gift for our classroom.”

Learning About the Environment
Funded Jan 31, 2012Thank you for your generosity in getting this project funded. My students absolutely love the science materials that they received and have already learned so much. From the models of the human body to the weather chart, they have been utterly engaged in science and ask me continuously about our next experiment. The weather chart has been perfect especially since many of them are currently doing research projects on extreme weather conditions. They now understand what the different weather icons stand for and are able to discuss them in a general way.
Having these materials have made such a difference in their instruction. Thank you!”
