Out of the Oort-inary
Funded Oct 29, 2008Thank you so much for funding our trip to the Challenger Center! The students have been so excited ever since we started planning and preparing, and now I can tell them the mission is a go! We appreciate donors such as yourself for enhancing our curriculum in ways that really get children interested in science, and in ways we could not afford on our own. We will do our very best to "rendezvous with the comet." Thank you again. (And again and again and again.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Motorola Foundation and 2 other donors.Show What You Know
Funded Sep 16, 2008Thank you so much for funding our writing project! I find book-making to be a realistic assessment of student understanding, and creating a work of art with these materials will really instill a sense of pride in my students. Book-making is an interesting way to encourage writing and expression. We can hardly wait to get started. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you”

All Worn Out!
Funded Jul 10, 2008Thank you for your generous gift. The students will be so excited when we begin our electricity unit and they learn to use digital data collection. What a leap into the 21st century for them!
I thank you too for making my job easier. These tools will bring science alive and inspire the students to really become involved with the inquiry, something that I work hard at in all our units. I appreciate your caring about education in America. We'll make you proud”

Data Collection in the Out of Doors
Funded May 10, 2008Thank you for donating these terrific data collectors to my students. With them they will be able to practice using digital technology, record bird sounds, compare graphs of temperature and become familiar with 21st century science. Your generous donation will also be acknowledged by the children as they learn how to cope with students from all walks of life. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to help them open doors to discovery.

Alternative Energy: Which Way Should I Go?
Funded Jun 12, 2008Thank you so much for your generous gift! Energy is a topic we are all interested in at the moment, and the students of today are the innovators of tomorrow. Teaching them about alternative energy sources may indeed spark the creation of a new source and change the world. Thank you again for thinking of us. I'm sure the pictures will show how your gift inspired the interest and excitement of discovery and invention”

Where In The World Is The Wilderness Classroom?
Funded Aug 3, 2008Thank you for your generous gift for our classroom. We have a great time each year with the Wilderness Classroom experience but the students had difficulty imaging just where the scientists were. With this large map of South America I will be able to teach map skills as well as give a visual reference to the towns, rivers and other places the scientists mention. Thank you for improving the education in our school, and making my job a little easier. (and a lot more fun!) Thank you again.

Out of the Oort-inary
Funded Oct 1, 2007Thank you for your generous gift of this Challenger Learning Center experience. My students have not stopped talking about it since we got the word that we will be going. Space education is an important part of our curriculum and this mission to rendezvous with a comet is especially meaningful, since our school nickname is the Comets. You will get some great shots of future scientists, and perhaps, because of your generosity, one of them will get that spark of imagination that space travel requires. Thank you again. We are so grateful”

Serious About Science Fair
Funded Jun 5, 2007Thank you for your generous gift of the Consumer Reports magazines. These magazines and the online lessons from CR will visually demonstrate to our students how the scientific method is used in real life. From this knowledge the students can prepare a meaningful science project. Thanks so much for assisting this learning, and it is very possible you may have sparked the flame of discovery in a future scientist. I'm already looking forward to next school year”

We, Robots
Funded Sep 15, 2006I am beside myself with delight and my students will be in seventh heaven. I know they never imagined being able to work with such important equipment, and the opportunity will show them that there are those in the world who care about their education. Thank you so much for providing this introduction to robotics and helping me prepare my students not only for the future but to succeed in the present as well.
