  • New School - New Material = Student Success

    Funded Jul 22, 2024

My students are entering the 8th week of school and your materials are being put to great use. I have decorated my room with motivational posters and visuals using the command strips (which the district required us to use due to being in a new building) to protect the paint on the walls.

The pencils are always a blessing because a day doesn't go by that a student doesn't need a pencil - and they often don't have one - and they know to ask and get one from my shelf and there is no fuse! (AWESOME!) Less stress for me and a big deal isn't made of them not having one - we all are sometimes a little forgetful! (Guilty myself!)

We have done several visuals using the paper provided and I can now freely make copies when needed without the stress of finding a way to the copier during class, having to get a nearby teacher to watch my kids, making life much less stressful.

With your help, you have made our first few weeks in our new school a little less stressful and we appreciate your support. Everyone was dealing with trying to navigate the new school, new routines, and regulations, and having these supplies has limited the stress in my class which has positively impacted our class. Thank You!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Duggan

  • Making History Stand Out with Color and Creativity

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Happy New Year and thank you for your support of my students. We use the materials that you helped us purchase almost daily. We put the material to very good use doing group and individual projects such as timelines, charts and Graphic Organizers.

We have completed a Project on the American Revolution, where the students completed an illustrated timeline of the events that lead to the American Revolution. We also did a Walk-A-Bout on the Battle of Gettysburg. We will continue to use the materials for the remainder of the year on other projects. One will be on World War I and another will be on more current events in South Carolina.

I just wanted you to know that my students always get very excited when I give them the materials to use and I let them know that people from around the country gave money to support the enrichment of their education here at WMPS. We truly are blessed and are so thankful for your continued support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Duggan

  • South Carolina History: "In Living Color"

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

We are using your donated materials on a daily basis. It put the kids at ease knowing that when they forget a pencil or paper that I can give them one and it is not a big deal....stress free! (For me and the students)

We do map activities, graphic organizers, charts and different note taking assignments that are content specific and the materials you donated allow the students to be colorful and creative during these activities. We are so blessed to have your support and my students are able to come to class and enjoy SC History in a stress free fun environment.

I have done several projects over the years and your continued support always humbles me. The impact of your generosity will continue throughout the school year and I can not thank you enough. Continued blessings to you all and once again THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Duggan

  • Live and In Color - Interactive Notebooks Highlight History

    Funded May 29, 2018

My Students LOVE the supplies! I have little caddies at each table and the students rest at ease coming to my class knowing that everything is provided for them right at their table! I have stressed that these are for us in our class and not to be taken from the room. They have been fantastic and it has made for an AWESOME start to our school year! I can not begin to tell you how much of a difference these simple items have made in my class! It has been the best start to my school year in the 20 plus years I have been teaching! You guys are AWESOME and I want you to know you have made a huge difference in my children and their start to the school year! Continued Blessing to each of you!

We start each year with a Map Project of the Regions of South Carolina and the materials were immediately put into use! The kids did an awesome job on their maps (Pictures are coming) We will continue to use the materials in our next unit on European Exploration in SC. It has just made a huge difference in the start of our year and we will continue to use these items throughout the year. Thank You Thank You!”

  • Help Me Make Social Studies Stick!

    Funded Oct 23, 2016

The supplies you have provided have lifted a tremendous burden off of me and my students. Middle School students can be very forgetful at times and because of you I can offer the materials without a fuss. At the very least, one student in each class has needed to borrow a pencil nearly every day of the week. I would have to fuss and get uptight because they didn't bring their materials to class. Well some of my students are forgetful and some really can not afford all the things they need on a daily basis. Because of you and your generosity I can give the students what they need and they don't have to feel bad about asking because I don't make it a big deal. Lowers the stress level for everyone and increases the learning. I thank you for your support from me and my students. You are a blessing and are much appreciated.”

  • Paper, Pencils, Kids Oh My!

    Funded Mar 2, 2016

    Dear Friends,

Your contribution to my project has helped the my students prep for the State Test and our Final Exams. Copies for guided notes and the pencils and the sharpener have gone a long way in decreasing the stress of my students and myself. You ask how is this....I have plenty of Pencils for them to have and I don't have to get upset when they forget to bring one to class! I can just give them one without causing a fuss! The paper is always needed. I can not thank you enough. I have enough to get through the end of this year and start off next year with a good start of supplies! Thanks Again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Duggan

  • Light Up History

    Funded Feb 11, 2010

I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank each of you for helping get my project funded! I have received the light-box and have it up and running in my classroom! You have made my life so much better and have enhanced my classroom instruction.

I no longer have to reserve a light-box from our media center! I no longer have to worry about someone calling me in the middle of the day and taking the light-box for another class. My lessons can now run as planned without having to go to a plan B, C, or D! It is great! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The PowerPoint presentations, the writing prompts, videos, notes, quizzes, and warm-up activities can all be displayed clearly on my back wall. Everything is typed so my students can no longer say they can not read the writing on the board, not that my handwriting was bad! Students sometimes look for an excuse not to do some of the work...you have now made it possible for me to take one of them away! This will help them become better students.

I will have some pictures of my students working in the class and the light-box in action for you here in the next week or so! I can not thank each of you enough for your kindness and concern for the students that I teach. Your donation will be put to good use and will have an impact on student learning this year and many years to follow.

Thanks again to each of you and please know that you are making a difference in students lives! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Duggan

You can help inspire my students educational endeavors. I teach great kids in a small town. I teach 8th grade social studies (History) and love watching my students grow! Our district has been hit with the "budget crunch", as have many districts across the country, and we are always looking for additional funding opportunities! I use DonorsChoose.org to post projects that help me supplement my classroom! I thank you in advance for taking a look at my projects that I post and hope you can find a way to help support me and my students. The students are our future and we need to keep a vested interest in them no matter how big of a struggle it may be at times! Thank You again for your support! Mr. Duggan
