Digital Resources for Distant Learners
Funded Feb 3, 2021Technology is the path to the future so as a teacher, I want to make sure my students feel comfortable using technology. Thank you to your generous donation, I was able to purchase materials through Teachers Pay Teachers. When I created this project, I did not know when we were going to go back to school in person, so I was planing on buying materials and uploading them to the platforms that we use at school like Schoology and Seesaw. Now, that we are back, I had to change my plans because I can print what I have purchased and we can use these worksheets in person.
One of the things that I have purchased is fluency passages. My students get very excited when we do fluency. They enjoy the competition and improve their reading with more and more practice. I also have the option of uploading it online and having my students do fluency using an online platform.”

Double-sided Whiteboards!
Funded Jul 15, 2021Thank you for your generous donation. The whiteboards came in handy because I did not have double-sided white boards. My students took them home last year during distance learning and most of them did not return them.
Every morning, we do dictation and spelling. I dictate a word and my students write the word on the whiteboard. I also check to make sure their penmanship is legible. My students love using their whiteboards because they do get tired of always using pencil and paper to write.
In the afternoon, we use the white boards to do math. My students write the number of the day and we do many activities like, writing the number in standard form, expanded form, writing fact families , and making a number line.
We will continue using the white boards for the rest of the school during English Language Arts and Mathematics.”

Funded Apr 12, 2021I would like to thank you for your generous donation. This iPad came in time of need. When we came back to school in August, many students were missing the technology that the school provided, so almost everyday the iPad has been used to make sure that every child in my classroom has access to the internet. Now, 4 months into the school year, my students use the iPad constantly because their original devices are getting old ( wear and tear).
My students love using the iPad because it is easier to use the iPad for the websites that we use than the Chromebook that my students currently have. My students are excited because they can login and maneuver the websites that we use, such as Schoology, Clever, Epic Books, A-Z Learning and ST Math with ease.
I have an autistic student that has a difficult time remembering the password to his Chromebook and this gives him a lot of anxiety. I let him use the iPad instead because it is easier to use and there is no password. It is mandatory in our district that every computer has a username and password.”

Funded May 28, 2020WOW!! Finally, after 12 months we are back in the classroom. It's a hybrid version, but we can finally use all the materials that we got thanks to your generosity. We have been using the whiteboards every single day to practice writing our letters, words, and numbers. The double sided whiteboards are extremely helpful because they have primary lines on one side and a blank writing part on the other side. We can do many things with these whiteboards. My students that decided not to come back got some too. It makes teaching a little bit easier because students love to write on these whiteboard and they feel proud to show their work.
Today we used the rainbow dot markers and my students were so excited because for some of them it was the first time that they used paint as an activity. We will continue using the dot markers to do art and to do math. Today we used the paint to make the letter of the week , which is Zz.
Thanks to you, we also got counters in the shape of butterflies, farm and wild animals, and fish. My students were thrilled when they got to use these to count. They asked a lot of questions about these animals which made it a very interesting day. We will continue using these counters to practice our counting.
The next step is to continue using all these materials to reinforce and motivate my students. Once again, thank you for making a difference. I hope you get to see the pictures that I posted.”

Funded Jun 25, 2020When I first saw that you donated to this project I was thrilled. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation. I received the materials during a time when our school was closed and we couldn't go inside the school for a couple of months. Last week, I was finally able to see all the amazing things that we go. Thanks to your generosity, we got colorful soccer balls, hand balls, jump ropes, and cones.
We finally get to go back to school in a week and I was extremely excited to share all these materials with my students. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, my students are not allowed to use any of this equipment.
I told my students about the physical education equipment that we got and I showed them some pictures. They were so excited because everything was new and shiny. I told them that as soon as we can, we can use the equipment. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hopefully in a couple of weeks our school can create a plan on how students can play with these materials in a safe way.”

Funded Jun 21, 2020Thank you for making this project possible for my kindergarteners. We received the Lego Duplos, the 3 way Tabletop Easel, and the magnetic letters on August 2020. During this time, our school was closed due to Covid-19. I did not get a chance to open most of the materials.
When I got the Legos, I told my students about them and they very excited. They asked, "When are we going back to school so we can play with them?" I could see their excitement when I show them the website where I order them from. Some of my students shared that they like Legos because they can build things like rockets, cars, and house. One kid said that he uses his brain when he plays with Legos.
I had so many ideas on how to incorporate Legos in my lessons. I will continue exploring and finding ways to use these materials as soon as our school opens up. These materials are a blessing to our classroom because we do not have enough hands-on materials. I thank you for donating these materials to our class.”

Whiteboards For Kindergarteners!
Funded Aug 17, 2020These whiteboards came in handy especially during this time. We use our whiteboards for English Language Arts and Math. I use them every day in the morning to write words. I use these words to show my kindergarteners how to sound out each letter and blend these letters to read words. After I do this, then I do dictation and spelling. I say the word, then I say the word in a sentence, and then my students write the word. They sound out each letter as they write the word. For math, I'm introducing number sentences and number bonds. We use the blank side of the whiteboard to draw picture that goes with the math story or problem. Then, they draw a number bond and a number sentence. We do this every day.
My students love their whiteboards because they are so easy to use and erase. They love using them during all academic areas. Each student was able to take one whiteboard home and this has been very helpful.
Our nest step is to continue using the whiteboard for writing simple and complete sentences. Also, to use them when I introduce subtraction problems, which is in the nest two weeks.”

Funded Jun 6, 2020Thank you very much for your donation. Thanks to your generosity we have been using our journals to practice our letters and high frequency words. Now, five months after the school year began, we have started drawing pictures and writing about our pictures. The primary grade journals are great because it guides my students to write the letters correctly. We use the journal every day for language arts, science, and social studies. The cardstock paper has been great because I've been able to create sight word crowns. My students get these crowns once they pass their high frequency words oral exam. By using cardstock, these paper crowns last longer.
My students were so excited when they got their new journal. They are so proud because some on them got their first, second, and third crown. Also, some students sent me pictures wearing their crown and they still wear them on some occasions.
My next step is to continue using the journals in all subject areas and to continue creating crowns using the colorful cardstock and markers to motivate my students.
I hope you can see what difference your donation makes in our classroom. Once again, Thank You!”
