Let's Create Some Art!
Funded Dec 30, 2022My students were extremely excited when we got the arts supplies, especially the oil pastel colors. They really enjoy using them because it is a different material and the combination of oil pastel, water colors, crayons, and markers looks amazing in art projects.
They also love using the skin color crayons, they have asked me in the past that they would like a color that matches their skin because in the regular crayon box, the color of their skin does not exist.
We have used the oil pastel and water colors to do some St. Patrick's Day and Spring art. They love doing art! We will continue using these arts supplies through the year and for years to follow.”

Double-sided Whiteboards!
Funded Aug 18, 2022Thank you once again for your generous donation.
The new double-sided whiteboard came to us at the perfect time because we use them every day.
We use them every morning to review the previous phonics lesson. Then, I introduce the new spelling sound/pattern . After this, we do dictation and spelling. Finally, we use the whiteboard to review the spelling of the sight words of week.
We also use the white boards during math. Right now I'm teaching place value and expanded notation. The whiteboards help by having students make models , show their work and write their numbers.
My students love using these whiteboard. They find it more interesting and are more engaging in the lesson than if they were using paper and pencil.”

Funded May 5, 2022We received a wonderful collection of books that focuses on important social emotional topics such as love, compassion, being a good friend, and on empathy.
My students love the SPOT books. They really enjoyed me reading these books during read alouds. After I read them, we have a discussion about the book that I am reading for that day. Some days, depends on the topic and what is going on at school I extend the lesson and have an activity. Some days we write about what we are grateful for, other days we write about how to be a good friends.
One of my students, that is reading above grade level gets to take the books home and read them. She loves coming to school and loves to read. I want to make sure she has as many types of books that she can read. These are a few examples of what we have been doing with these books. I once again thank you for your generosity.”

Funded Feb 28, 2022WOW!! You have no idea how much students are enjoying using the soft dodgeballs. They love using these balls during physical education and recess. We have learned how to use them in a safe way. We have talked about being responsible and to take care of them so they can last a long time. My students love playing ro-sham-bo dodgeball almost every day.
My students were thrilled when they saw the balls because now we have a whole set for our classroom. Our school bought about 15 of them for the entire school and we had to share them. Let me tell you, now we only have about 5 balls left for the entire school. Thank you to your generous donation, now we have our own set.
Once again, thank you for being so generous!”

Water Is An Essential Need
Funded Feb 1, 2022Thank you very much for your generous donation. My students were very excited when we got the water filter. I tried to install it in front of them and I couldn't do it. After many tries and getting all wet, I was finally able to make it work.
It has been a couple of weeks since we've been using the water filter and we are all very happy because we have clean water to drink. We use it everyday because some of my students forget to bring a water bottle or they drink plenty of water and need a refill. The reusable water bottles are handy because some of my students do not have a reusable water bottle. I'm so happy that my students get to have clean and fresh water to drink at school everyday.”

Let’s Create Cool Colorful Projects!
Funded Jan 9, 2022Thanks to your generosity, my students have been able to create long lasting art projects and cards that do not fade quickly.
During St. Patrick's, my students were able to create a fun project that included cutting, coloring, and using thick paper. My students created a four leaf clover and they wrote reasons that explain why they are lucky.
My students also used the colorful paper to create a beautiful Mother's Day card.
My students get very excited anytime that we do something that requires us to glue, cut, and color. They love to be creative!! The next step is to continue using all the colorful paper that I got to keep creating projects throughout the year.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021Since last year I've been building up the excitement for the Junie B Jones collection. Once I got the books, I made a big deal. I told them that only certain kids will be able to read these book because they are chapter books and they need to learn how to read to be able to borrow these books. Junie B. Jones books are excellent to teach students about tone, expression, and stamina. I love how the main character is so energetic and this helps students read with lots of expression by raising and changing their voice when reading.
Our Junie B. Jones library is almost complete. I just need to order more copies of the last book in the series.
My students are very excited to read all the books and at the end of each book they will write a book report. They will continue reading more and writing more book reports and with this practice, they will become better readers.”

Funded Jan 7, 2022My students were so elated when I opened the box and they got to open each wobble cushion seat. I had to explain the purpose of these wooble cushions. They were extremely excited when they sat on them. They were using words like, "It feels weird" "It feels funny" You will see their reactions when you see the photos that I've sent you.
My students have been using them when sitting on the floor because we do not have a carpet. Another benefit that I found is that due to Covid, I set the cushions on the floor with enough distance so during my lesson, my students can sit apart and pay attention and be safe. They have been using them in the morning during English Language Arts and in the afternoon during mathematics time.
All my students got a chance to sit on them. The next step is to have my students that have a difficult time concentrating use them daily. I will give them the choice, but first I will explain again the benefits of using these wooble cushions.”

Funded Nov 20, 2021As soon as I received the materials, I rearranged my classroom and started using the materials the following day. Every day at 1:00 PM we start math and I introduce the number of the day, which is the number of days that we've been in school for.
Every day, I review how to decompose the number of the day, how to write the number in word form, standard form, expanded form, use the number line, and show the number using money. I call on students to come help me write on the magnetic boards. During language arts time, I use the magnetic writing chart to show my students correct letter formation. This year, more than ever, my students need help practicing letter formation. In addition to this, I use this chart for dictation and spelling.
My students like and enjoy using the boards because they are clear, clean, engaging, and they look professional.
Once again, thank you for your donation.”

Let's Have Fun while Learning Math!
Funded Aug 13, 2021We received the materials a couple of weeks ago and we've been using all the materials. On Fridays, we have Fun Friday and we play Bingo. My students love to play Bingo. Each week I alternate between Addition, Number, Measurement, and Subtraction Bingo and each week they look forward to this.
The kids enjoy playing with the Addition Dominoes. I like these Dominos because my students get to see different ways to represent a number, a number can be represented as the standard number 16 or in an addition sentence like, 10+6= ___. The Math Skills Write and Wipe Boards are a great addition to our classroom because my students use them to practice different math skills. Also, the dry erase markers are extremely helpful because we use them everyday during math and English Language Arts.
My next step is to continue using these resources as long as they last. I will make Fun Friday a continuous event in my classroom and I have Bingo games to use during this time.”
