  • Let's Exercise While Having Fun!

    Funded May 17, 2024

My students love to play and exercise during physical education and I'm glad that they have different equipment to help them move around and have fun.

During physical education, I have students use the foam fliers and the plastic rings to practice their manipulative skills such as throwing, catching, running, and jumping.

Oh! My students loved the materials, especially the foam fliers. I took them outside and they got to play with them. They had so much fun trying to see who could throw them higher and farther.

Once again, thanks to your generous donation, these students are having fun and staying healthy.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Kelly

  • Colorful Art Projects

    Funded Mar 28, 2024

First of all, let me thank you from the bottom of my heart for the generous donation. My students love art and they like it when they get to use colorful and shiny paper. They love using watercolors, tempra paint, and oil pastels.

As a reward for following rules and doing their homework, they get to participate in FUN FRIDAY where we get to work on an art project. For our first project, they started with a self portrait, first they used cardstock and Sharpies to draw a picture of themselves, then they used another cardstock to paint a background with tempera paint. It was fun and engaging.

I'm looking forward to creating more colorful art projects that will last a long time. Thanks to your donation, this is possible because at public schools we do get good quality, long lasting, and colorful paper that will not fade. Thank you for making this possible.”

  • Let's Practice Counting To...

    Funded Nov 9, 2023

We received the math counters and they are a hit. My students enjoy counting more than every because the math counters come in animal shapes like wild animals, farm animals, and fish.

My students use these counters almost every day to practice counting independently. They also like to sort out the counters based on type of animal, color, or other characteristics that these animal counters have. As a guided math lesson, we group these counters and count them by tens and ones since this is what I'm currently teaching in first grade.

These math counters are a great resource and thanks to your generosity I have enough counters to last for a while. I'm very thankful to you and I hope you have a great day.”

  • The Science of Reading

    Funded Sep 24, 2023

Thank you very much for donating to this project.

It feels great to to have access to Teacher Pay Teacher to purchase supplemental material to support my students in decoding and reading. The reading program that we use doesn't have certain materials/stories that are needed to support students in acquiring the foundational skills in English. I follow the phonics continuum and it is great to have access to all the wonderful resources that teachers have created on TPT.

My students get excited because every day I introduce a sound/spelling pattern, they blend words and then they read a story that has this spelling pattern. Students feel successful because they are seeing this spelling pattern in different contexts and are successful at decoding and reading words with the spelling pattern of the day.

There is nothing better than seeing students cheer up when they are successful at reading!”

  • Primary Grade Composition Notebooks

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

These primary grade journals are wonderful because it helps students by showing them where to start writing a letter and where the letter ends, which is letter formation. It also helps them with their penmanship, which I think it is very important. Our school gives us generic journals, but they are not ideal for young students that are learning to write letters correctly.

My students like the journals. My students write in their journals every day and they enjoy using the top part to draw a picture and then using the lines below to write a sentence that matches their picture.

The next steps is to continue writing in the journals and improving in letter formation and writing complete sentences.”

  • Let's Have Fun While Learning Math!

    Funded Sep 13, 2023

We have been using these math tools almost everyday. My students love playing with the jumbo foam dice and the smaller yellow dice. Now, I have enough for every student to get a pair of dice and practice their addition. They have the option of practicing alone or with a partner. After a couple of days of teaching them how use these tools correctly, now they can practice independently while I work with a small group.

This project is impacting my students in a positive and fun way because they are learning about addition and using a base ten frames to add in a fun way instead of using paper and pencil. I'm also able to see how my students are learning to add fluently with accuracy and speed.

I thank you once again for your generous donation.”

  • Reading Level Decodables!

    Funded Mar 11, 2023

After many years of researching the "phonics continuum" I finally know the natural progression of teaching letters and sounds, and how to put these together to learn how to decode and read. The next step if to gather materials and thank to your generous donation I am able to buy decodable stories with comprehension questions and some type of writing to help students improve in reading.

The most exciting thing is that students can make a connection to the sound of the day. They can apply the sound just learn to the decodable story that goes with that sound. This makes students feel successful!”

    Mr. Kelly

  • Let's Use Magnetic Letters!

    Funded Apr 9, 2023

Oh! This year I had some students that were far below grade level and I needed something new to help them engage and learn their sounds and blend consonant-short vowel-consonant 3 letter words. These magnetic letters gave my students extra practice in a fun new way. They enjoyed playing with the magnetic tiles and letters while practicing their 3 letter words. We were able to do this in a small group and once they understood the directions, they were able to do it on their own.

Students love magnets so they were very excited to use them. Next year, I'll be teaching first grade and these materials will come handy. Students at the first grade level need all the practice with letters, sounds, blending, and segmenting words.”

  • Let's Print Our Work!

    Funded Oct 11, 2022

It took a while for me to get the printer working because the printer works better wireless and that is not an option at my school. It's not an option because my school makes it very difficult to connect printers wirelessly, so I am using an USB cable.

My students were amazed when I showed them our new printer. At the same time, I introduced Google Docs. I showed them how they can type something, look for a picture and add it to their document. They loved doing this. The most exciting thing was printing their work in color. I loved this because using technology is a standard in second grade.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Kelly

My students love reading chapter books. The series of books from “The Magic Tree House” is very popular among second and third grade teachers and students. With the addition of these books to the classroom collection, my students will be able to work with the teacher in small groups. With these books, my students will have new and exciting literature to read and discuss. My students will work on comprehension strategies and skills while enjoying stories that are filled with adventures. I have chosen these books because I need guided reading books at the M, N, O and P Lexile level. With this literature, I will be able to challenge my students to become better readers by focusing on the strategies and skills that are appropriate for their independent or guided reading level. I also choose these books because my students are interested in the Magic Tree House collection. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students become stronger readers. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in reading and this project will only help enrich their experiences.
